Premier League donations??

NO, there aren't any.
However, how about asking Prem players to donate 1 - 5% of their salary to the EFL and help to save a few clubs?
Let's see, one player I read this week, can't remember which one, was earning 400K per week.
£400,000 X 5% is 20,000. Imagine that multiplied by all the big earners.
They wouldn't even notice it.
I know, it's 'Pie in the Sky', but worth a thought.

Is that before or after tax and NI?

Before, it's in effect HMRC who are making the majority of the donation.

After, then the 400K has been reduced substantially before you take your 5%.

OK, so 200k a week so the 20k now becomes 10%, or only 10k goes as donation.

And it's all very well suggesting 200k a week is unreasonable, but people cut their cloth to their income, how will the keep up they HP payments on their Ferrari with a reduced salary? Could you give away 5% of your income and not notice?

Tax deductible makes no sense, the Government may as well just pay it, I'm sure HMRC would claim it's more hassle than it's worth to maintain such a scheme.

the premier league will be the self preservation society look at teams like west ham wanting to end the season last year as there was a chance of them going down.

More chance of getting MP's to donate a percentage of their money to the furlough scheme!
