Just seen an interview with consultant from ICU
70 % of seriously ill have had no vaccine
25% only one vaccine
5% both vaccines but he stressed they had underlying conditions

3 million 18-30 eligible for jab had not taken it up from PM questions

Hopefully the fact that travel and crowded venues may be forced to mandate exclusion of people with no covid passport will move numbers up to nearer 100% so life does return to normal

The vaccine hopefully will be taken up

I do not know, he was saying a greater % of hospital cases will have had 2 jabs as more people have the vaccination, I can imagine some areas with an aging population will be higher in percentage terms.
However I would always prefer front line reporting and the consultant was very specific and it is a virus hotspot

My son is 22 and just had covid, very mild symptoms not had any vaccine. Not sure why he'd want to have it now? And spare me he would be protecting others.

A relative of mine, similar age has just tested positive for the second time.... Previously had it back in October 2020.

I suppose a slight positive is if the cases ramp up over 750k in about a month the vast majority will then develop antibodies, and we do manage herd immunity till the next variant

Have they been ill either time? How long does the vaccine work for, as far as I'm aware nobody really knows yet
They still hadn't recovered their sense of taste or smell properly since October (seems to be a very common issue by all accounts), this time they currently have it so I suppose we'll know more in a week (hopefully everything will be fine).

Not sure how long the vaccine works for, but I presume that boosters would be available if necessary. From my personal experience, the vaccine seems to be very effective.

Lies damn lies and statistics. Without the details behind the numbers the statistics become meaningless and whatsmore enable people to twist them to suit their agenda. If people keep getting mixed messages they eventually ignore them altogether

There's nothing to stop you getting it twice but it shouldn't be very severe after the first time.

Around 20% having had one jab in some wards in Leeds. Hospitalisation shooting up in those areas. Must be a coincidence.

So broadly in line now with the consultant I referred to.
I really cannot understand people not having the jab, what are they thinking.
If the only way to force the issue is to restrict their movements both abroad and to venues then so be it

Local figures seem to bear out the numbers...

Depending on where you look, the Split seems to be something like... 60% unvaccinated, 30% 1 Jab, 10% 2 Jabs

You then have to take factors into account like the unvaccinated and single vaccinated are likely to be in a much younger age group and therefore would have likely been less prone to hospitalisation in the first place.

So essentially....

10% Of Hospitalisations from the 60% vaccinated population
30% Of Hospitalisations from the 25% partially vaccinated population
60% Of Hospitalisations from the 15% unvaccinated population

So a population adjusted incidence

3% Double Vaccinated
22.5% Partially Vaccinated
75% Unvaccinated

Which doesn't consider the age factor....
