Punters Corner Update

ON 23rd June last year I posted 5 horses on here, 2 won, at 11/4 and 5/4, and 3 lost (all 3 losers were second)and so just a very modest profit of 1 point.

Along with others who posted their selections I got some abuse which on that day seemed a bit harsh but as a result apart from Saturday 14th September when I posted two picks, one which came 2nd at 6/1 the other suggested as an EW bet came 4th at 14/1 and was widely acknowledged to be boxed in and very unlucky, I have desisted from putting any on here since .

I have though continued selecting and betting for which I keep full records and since June 23rd have had 77 bets,all on flat racing,31 of which have won despite 10 successive losers in August, showing an overall profit of 22 points so that`s about 40% strike rate at an average price of just under 9/4. I continue to research my methods to attempt to improve my strike rate which indeed since November has improved with 9 wins from 16 just over 50% with 15 of the overall 22 points profit in the last 4 months.Edit to add : make that 13 wins out of the last 20 bets.

I had fully intended to post all the above selections on here, and said so at the time, for a bit of fun and enjoyment for any who were interested but the abuse and adverse comments from a few( eg"your tips are shyte," thanks 20`s) made me conclude it just wasn`t worth the hassle.

It takes all sorts, just ignore the negative comments and keep on doing what you enjoy.

I remember folk poo pooing the thread 18 months ago about "free money" which involved matched betting.

My son and I, well on the way to £100k profit, will always have the last laugh along with others who put the effort in.
 
Well done Miko.Yes I read that thread and was very impressed and when seassideone said he was going to have a go at it I asked him to let me know how he was getting on with it.

Sounds like you and your son are doing brilliantly.Good luck to you,it puts my modest efforts in the shade.Keep up the good work.

1950 some of your tips were a pile of.....some weren’t BUT so what, that’s gambling, don’t let the negative comments bother you. You don’t force people to bet....it’s just banter 😭😭😭

That`s true SpionKop it would be nice if they all won but that would be too easy.It was just one particular poster who was particularly offensive and when you are trying to share a bit of fun with others on here you don`t need that kind of response.Banter I can happily deal with .

Isn’t it mainly all weather you do 50,s.

Good for you - looking forward to the festival where I don’t see many bankers maybe - a plus tard, tiger roll and Mullins one in the bumper.
Champion hurdle looks poorest ever , got good odds on supasundae as I don’t see any thing that’s special.

Hope the systems working better and surprised you’ve not had your account frozen with that strike rate.

Yes I only do flat racing,turf and obviously just all weather this time of year as an important element is times and I find they aren`t as reliable over the sticks as there are less truly run races..

Many years ago when I was betting in 4 figures I had lots of accounts closed, now I bet for fun, £20 stakes and so my winnings are relatively small and spread over a number of accounts so no probs as yet and I haven`t really expected any ,in fact Hill`s and Ladbrokes offer slightly enhanced odds but I think that`s only up to £25 stakes.

teamprofit.com will explain everything. All I will say is watch the videos over and over and over and over and over.

Took me 20 minutes to place my first bet and lay after watching them. Now takes seconds. Much tougher now that it was 18 months ago but still good money to be made with no risk. Join as many facebook groups as possible also.

For some reason I don't look forward to it like I used to.

Still a great meeting, maybe I am just getting old.

Lingfield 2.55 Dark Phoenix 7/2 bet365
5.05 True Scarlet 3/1 several bookies
Dundalk 8.00 San Andreas 9/4 Paddy Power
If you back them do go easy. 3 bets in 1 day is very unusual as often I may not have that many bets in a week.I have in fact already had 1 bet so far this week which was Light Lily which won on Tuesday at 5/4.
 
I miss posts like this always found them interesting. I am hoping sky bet do the money back cash on the first race again at the festival. I remember listening to a freakonomics podcast on gambling and the economist said the best way of turning a profit was just backing the favourite each way over loads of races. But even he said 'It is literally the most boring way to watch a horse race in the history of horse racing. But it makes money. It’s a gambling strategy only an economist could love'.

Sky will be doing the refund this year but only £10 per race.
 
Bookies best friend =fav backers
You will get days but few favs usually win at a meeting,ppl who walk into a bookies and scribble fav on a slip without knowledge of the horse or it’s form on the ground/trip/opposition etc is on a hiding to nothing if you ask me

Favourites tend to win about 32% of the time using a large sample but obviously in the long run if you just back them blindly the bookies edge ensures you will lose overall although backing outsiders blindly would lose you more money more quickly over any extended period of time.I would be very surprised if backing favourites each way would show a profit over any length of time but I`ve never actually researched it as it looks very unpromising.

The only way to make a profit if betting regularly is to identify and back horses whose odds are greater than their actual chances of winning which if done consistently can overcome the punters disadvantage of bookies edge.

Wow, just wow! Economical with some of your "facts" there. More than happy for you to bring the thread back on the other AVFTT to prove the point I made at the time. That was that if you backed your five tips at their starting prices which most punters do then you would have lost money.

Look, if you're confident of making people a profit then have the guts to do it and post your tips. Don't be wise after the event which is basically what your o/p here is all about. So yeah, I'll happily watch your tips with great interest and accept that not every tip will be a winner. Go for it. I hope you turn out a good few winners, I really do

There was a rule 4 for True Scarlet,10p in the pound I think on early prices .I originally got enhanced odds of 3.23/1 with Hills reduced to 2.91/1.Hope everyone else backed it early and took a price as it was heavily backed.SP 5/4.

Cheers 20`s .I hope one day I might win you round and you might realise what a load of nonsense you`ve consistently spouted about both me and my tips though that`s far harder than picking winners!

Every credit 1950’s that’s 3 from 3 today! Many thanks for sharing I had a little single on both the afternoon races but can see the evening one won too 👍
 
Wow, just gone on my sky bet to have a look at today's football and had completely forgot I had put £2.50 e/w on the treble, nice little surprise £115 win. Cheers 50s 👍

I don't bet big 50s but my £3 stake returned £17.34. The other horse was only placed. Cheers for the tips.

I see we have lost Newbury and Navan this afternoon, we'd better not lose Cheltenham to the corona virus.

I can't say I've looked at the racing too deeply and might just have a little pin sticking bet on the football.

Anybody have any particular fancies on the fixed odds today ?
 
Just to keep Punters Corner followers informed I backed Unforgiving Minute,running today 6.45 Wolverhampton, late last night at 7/4 with Skybet but now see that the best price available is only 11/10.

They won`t all win but it`s going well just now.That`s the 4 on here won and actually the last 8 I`ve backed have won.Maybe I`m due for a few losers???

I once went to Cheltenham many years ago,cost me a fortune,you live and learn.......hopefully.Hope your luck turns.👍
