Queen

Watched a couple of programmes on BBC2 about Queen. So this afternoon sat in the kitchen listening to songs by Queen and my wife said my favourite song is “You’re my best friend “ what’s yours?
Fat bottomed girls I said. Why is she not speaking to me?

Enjoyed the Programme on BBC2 last night about Freddies illness and the lead up / clips of the 1992 tribute concert. Especially enjoyed the story about the nervousness surrounding Axl Rose and what (if anything) he was going to do 🤣
Been a big fan of Queen for years and the first album I ever bought was News of The World.

However my answer to your question, would be "Tie your mother down", which I usually play in the car after visiting the "In laws" - 😋

Freddie couldnt help being homosexual...its just the way he was reared...bum bum

One of the greatest frontmen I have ever had the privilege to see live...countless great songs but Bohemian rhapsody for me still

For me: Now I'm Here.

"You're my best friend" was written by the bass player, John Deacon, about his wife.
I was going to put Now I'm Here. Most of the rest of Sheer Heart Attack as well.

Loads of the tracks from the first few albums remind me of driving around with my Dad in the early 80s, especially Taylor's 'Drowse' for some reason.

PS. No synthesisers were used in the making of those records.

Yes. Recommend it to anyone on catch up.
Very touching tribute.
Axl Rose refusing to answer the door to Elton and bouncing on stage like Tigger on speed 😂

Considering the amount of airtime and discussion the situation has had over the years- especially the last few - I thought it was a really good film that brought a lot of new perspective and footage together.

I liked that his sister was on it, giving a truly personal family perspective about Freddie and his battle with the illness. Looking back it was more shocking than ever to see him at the Brits and I can remember exactly where I was when I heard the news that he had aids and then - the next morning- that he’d died.

There can be only one...

I think George Michael’s story gets sadder the more you hear it. That massive haired ‘upbeat’ guy from Wham lived a life a long way from that image. He definitely stole the show at the tribute concert but when you heard his cousin tell the back story it was tragic.

Little quiz and without googling (trusting you) who did we play on the day of the tribute concert?

Complete guess, Div 4 in 92 so Rotherham?

Just watched the documentary, Taylor and May proper gents as usual and David Blunkett is an ignorant bigoted **, same with Thatcher obviously and the entire establishment in the 80s was just god awful, feeding a corrupt, salacious right wing press. Thank fuck we've moved on as a society from the 80s and 90s.

The one thing that I hadn't heard before, was May admitting they knew about Freddies illness a long time before they revealed to anyone outside of their circle.
For me that's respect for a friend, where as today everyone would know about it via social media within minutes !!! 🙁

I memory may be fudged by time, but I think I heard this on TOGWT before they hit the big time.

There’s none so blind as those that can’t see.
