Ray Kennedy

I remember him turning out for Hartlepool at Bloomfield Road at the back end of his career, fantastic player RIP Ray

He played for Arsenal against us in the great 1970 FA Cup game iirc.

Tough second half for him that, and a tough second half he had to his life too. RIP.

Great player and RIP.
Scored the goal that won the league for The Goons and WHL in April 1971. Me and a mate went straight from school and joined the queue which snaked up and down the Paxton Rd. When the gates opened, the queue just collapsed and we were in the ground at 6pm (it was a Monday 7.30pm ko.).
So many Goons on the pitch at the end. I was a very upset 14 year old.

RIP Ray.
A great player whose career was sadly ended by the early onset of Parkinsons which had a devastating effect on the rest of his life.

Shankly's very last signing for Liverpool. Converted from a striker to a midfielder by Bob Paisley. And what a midfielder he turned out to be.
RIP Ray

Very sad. Struggled with Parkinson’s for many years

Interestingly one of many players picked up by the general manager of Port Vale in the late ‘60s … chap called Stanley Mathews …

He was a sound bloke got to know him quite well he used to coach the kids at pontins middleton towers once a week
I was a sparky there for 4 yrs
R.I.P Ray

Great player up front for Arsenal then wide left for Liverpool. So sad he had to fight with Parkinson’s for so long but a true star. RIP Ray.

Ray Kennedy was the last signing made by Bill Shankly.
At the time I thought that's a bad signing as Ray was struggling at Arsenal how wrong I was.
