Realistic ways to improve the current squad?

Obviously the future is up in the air for a lot of our players and Covid is only going to create more uncertainly elsewhere in the EFL, but of the players you've seen at this level and the leagues below or in Ireland/Scotland/Wales etc (I trust Critchley to bring in the best youth and prospects from above) - which players would you hope we try attract in the summer?

Shayne Lavery at Linfield in Northern Ireland
James Jones and Thomas Lowery at Crewe
Morgan Ferrier at Tranmere
And quite a few of the Oxford squad.

Just a few that caught my eye when they came here

Marcus Harness Right winger at Portsmouth.Seemed to have raw pace and ability to go past people.Only signed there last year so unlikely.

Emmanuel Osadebe midfielder at Macclesfield.Got himself into good positions especially through on goal.Macc's gameplan was to get one of their front men in behind the defence which they did well all night but this lad playing from midfield managed it very well.Looks a tall strong fella aswell.

Brandon Hanlan forward at Gillingham.Seems like he comes alive in the penalty area. Not fantastic goals return looking at it on paper now but I think he could definitely be getting more goals the way he latches onto loose balls in crowded penalty boxes.

Michael Smith forward at Rotherham. Unrealistic as he must be one of their most important players but an absolute unit of a man and very dangerous from set pieces. Will drop deep to add some strength into a midfield.

Luke Garbutt Left back at Everton on loan at Ipswich last year.If this was the lad who was whipping balls in all afternoon then he has a dangerous left foot.I know we are overloaded with left backs but his with his crossing ability maybe he could add something for us down the left hand side of midfield.Been on loan with six clubs over the last nine years.

Kevin Van Veen forward at Scunthorpe.Ran the show against us.Big,strong not afraid to have a dig at goal.28 years old.Could play at a higher level for sure.

We just need to bring in Athers as the assistant manager. He knows exactly what is needed to win games at this and every level.

Just spend millions on players we have no chance of getting in real life. Worked for me so far

Nice to talk football again. I said when I was watching the Tranmere game that with the right coaching, tactics, confidence etc that this squad, even without the trialists, showed at the start of the season it could do OK in this league. Getting Kaikai back will be a massive positive and I think this season we've seen the likes of Virtue, MacDonald and ironically Hardie all show potential. I have said we just need a strong backbone and the rest will follow.
