I didn't agree with him but he believed in what he stood for . A man of principle. Unlike some of the spineless politicians today.

He had the stress of those sexual assault trials where he was found not guilty, and the woman that accused him of rape at the hotel
was proven to not be there in court. It is hard to imagine that the police and prosecution acted without checking that the accused
attended the hotel and function where the offense was supposed to take place.

For all the great politician he was he lost the referendum and ended up kicking around with a minor political party no one outside of Scotland had heard of. I remember when Andy Murray won Wimbledon he couldn't wait to unfurl a Scottish flag in the royal box and make it about something else.
As an Englishman he wasn't for me, as a supporter of the Union he wasn't for me.
