RIP Loudax Athieas Lady

Well my 15 year 8 month dachshund in my profile pic was put to sleep this afternoon. She's seen off 1 wife, 2 girlfriends and all our most recent play off finals (she watched them all)
Certainly puts life into perspective.

Sorry to hear it Rag. Some on here wouldn't understand how you're feeling. I've done it three times and they were three of the worst days of my life. Commiserations to you.

Yep, sad day for you Rags, not everybody understands the bond with your dog.

Had some ten or so dogs over the last 30 years and it doesn`t get any easier when they trot off into the sunset.

Wouldn`t be without one though, and still have three farm collies and a German Shepherd.

RIP...

If it’s possible I think you can get more upset loosing a pet than a person. Probably not really but it feels like that, as they totally rely on you. Ours is only young but the thought of anything happening to him almost brings a tear to my eye. Really sorry to hear this news.

She had a cracking run tbf. 3 spinal ops between the ages of 4 and 7 I honestly thought she'd never make 10. Her back legs went last June so she hasn't walked since then. She's been an amazing hound for sure
A fighter 👍

Our previous Collie had pyometra, cancer, tore her stomach open on some glass on the beach and then went a bit senile (struggling with doors and stuff) and spent the last two years being carried upstairs at night by Mrs Lytham but was still a happy mentalist (the dog, not Mrs Lytham).

Its what we do innit. I've carried tia up to bed every night similarly and had to support her back end on toilets and walks etc...dressing gown cord is amazing lol. I've got her younger brother now to concentrate on at least. He's a sprightly 12 and a half

Sorry to hear that. Small dogs with a big heart. We had two wire haired minature Dachshunds when I was young and we loved them unconditionally.

I'm thinking of wires next. Seem to have a lower incidence of spinal issues

My commiserations, they give you such love, are such a part of your life, losing them changes you.

I'm sure you will remember all the good times, we still talk about the old boy we lost 8 years ago, every day.

Sad day Rags, every sympathy, you obviously gave her a great life and she was reluctant to cross that Rainbow Bridge - RIP Hound

I've never been overly attached to our pets and we've had a few; but so many people are especially when they offer constant, unwavering companionship like yours have. 15 years is a long old time.

Grief is grief and I hope you get comfort from your memories of Loudax.

Sorry to hear that Rags, people who’ve never had a dog will never know what they mean to the rest of us.
Heartbreakers.

😢

I totally understand this. I also have another 12 year old dachshund and I always thought of him as more doggie. I do love him but Tia was always totally dependent on me with her back problems so I think we were much more connected. Archies a bit more independent
