Typical, my Mum (just shy of 91) just slipped away this afternoon and now she will be stuck in the queue behind him at the Pearly Gates!

They have both lived a life, albeit very different ones, but they have both seen such much change in the World, some of it even for the better!

RIP Mum and HRH
RIP your mum ❤️

Thanks all for your sympathies - you aren’t a bad lot really - I’m not trying to hijack a very interesting thread though so I’ll just read it that you are all equally as nice 👍

Really sorry to hear that. You only ever have one mum. RIP

Met him a few times over the years at charity events. Lucky enough to talk to him about youth work - in particular voluntary youth clubs and organizations. He was extremely well informed and passionate about the charity work and the various clubs . He did amazing amounts of work for these charities and young people. I Liked Prince Philip.
RIP and God Bless.

Really sorry to hear your news Bottle.
In your words RIP (your)Mum and HRH in order of priority.

The truth is many only recall the grumpy figure not the moderniser: a go-ahead royal representative of a postwar Britain excited by the future and trusting of science, industry and technology to carry us forward.

Think of the Festival of Britain in 1951; the first royal interview ; the live broadcast of the Coronation

He more than anyone modernised the Royal Family

The people of the Melanesian island of Tanna will be devastated with the death of ‘ Man who belong Queen’ they worshipped him. Bless em.

Sympathies bottle, hope you’re ok

Congratulations you have really excelled yourself there ☹️
My point about his origins is to let those who dislike immigrants and immigration but go weak at the knees to the monarchy, know that the Royal Family are all descended from or actually are immigrants.
I guess what they want is the right colour immigrants and not the wrong colour immigrants.
