Robert Nesta Marley.

Absolute legend, his music never gets old. You can’t beat a bit of Exodus while downing a few Red stripes chilling on Negril Beach.

Went up to his house at Nine Mile a couple of years ago, some journey up there, right out in the sticks. Fascinating, obviously commercial but his original β€˜shack’ still standing, along side his mausoleum and his mother’s. Space cake and spliff stalls outside are legally run, with fixed prices! πŸ˜‰

I was on Negril Beach in 2019( my Avatar), don’t forget the Jerk Chicken. We were due to go to Runaway Bay last May and had planned to go to Nine Mile and Kingston

I remember talking with a Jamaican colleague ( now sadly deceased ) who said that the only problem with Bob Marley's work was that it was so brilliant that reggae had nowhere to go afterwards as perfection had already been reached.
Can anyone listen to Three Little Birds without a smile or Waiting in Vain without a nostalgic back thought to the girl you once loved from afar who got away without ever knowing your feelings. Just outstanding!

Stopped on Negril beach many many times at a place called Couples Swept Away.

An amazing place with a local aroma πŸ€ͺ

Tell me about it, those two beach bars are something else πŸ‘

How many Bob Marleys can you drink??

Sandals is posher, but Couples is much much more fun πŸ‘

Just added up our time stopping there in total and it’s nearly SIX months πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Stopped there over Xmas and New Year a few times, and one Xmas they announced Santa was arriving from the sea at midday.

We waited to see him arrive and it was a Jamaican dressed up on a raft, off his head. πŸ˜‚

Everyone got a present - the men got a bottle of Rum and the girls got a cooking sauce πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸ‘

....just what we needed in an All Inclusive.

For me the best thing they do is when they build a bonfire on the beach one night a week, and surround it by sun beds (made as doubles) covered in quilts.

The guitarist/singer is amazing and they bring you whatever you want to drink while you look up at the Sky that’s clear and full of stars.

Fck me - I’m going back as soon as this shite is over!!!!

Fuck me I can’t wait to go back, been four times to various resorts but have a soft spot for Negril.

About 2 years ago I was Bowling at Newton Hall indoor rink.
There was a guy, a West Indian, who was bowling.
It turned out that he was called Marley and he was Bob Marleys brother.
I never saw him again so someone must have brought him in.

I saw him at his open air concert at Crystal Palace in July 1980. I didn't realise it at that time but he was already suffering the effects of cancer.

I had digs in Lancaster Gate near Notting Hill. One day I saw a very tall rasterfarian riding a unicycle down the street. I told a mate about this strange sight and he said ' Oh yeah, that would be Peter Tosh. He is staying around the corner and likes to show off on his unicycle.'

Found em! Saw him on same tour CC, Deeside Leisure Centre of all places, had never been before or since! So glad I eventually got to see him after listening to his music since the late 60’s πŸ‡―πŸ‡²B0AB6738-4FFA-4209-A85C-99DF285545BB.jpeg
