Roll yer sleeves up....

A couple of mates of mine and a few people I work with are adimant they ain't having the covid vaccine. Thier reasons "it's not safe, you don't know what's in it and it ain't been tested properly.
Fair enough but my mates and at least 2 people I work with never gave a monkeys or a second thought about shoving any old white powder up thier noses or popping any pills put in front of them. So how they can justify not having a vaccine is beyond me. But hey ho!.

My wife works at the Vic and you'd be surprised how many staff there are not having it either!
That's very worrying.
What happens if you're going in for an operation and you are treated by staff that haven't had a vaccine and are asymptomatic?
And there's me thinking that the NHS were supposed to be caring.

It shouldn't be compulsory but those who choose not to have it shouldn't be upset if they are refused entry to public places or have travel restrictions. Moreover if they do leave the country they should be forced to self-isolate for 10 days and pay the £1750 fee like others are having to now.

Its nobodies business if somebody decides not to take an injection. It hasnt even been shown to prevent transmission so why would people be calling for it to be made compulsory? If it makes you feel safer that YOU are protected from severe symptoms then go ahead but dont push it on other people.

What the government should be doing is putting legislation in place right now to protect British people and prevent companies and employers trying to restrict the non injected from using their services or holding employment.

Yet to work in the NHS it's compulsory that you've had the MMR and Hepatitus jab complete madness that they aren't having the Covid one.

That's interesting. In my county 80% of health staff have had the vaccination so far and some of those that haven't are administrative rather than front line workers, so are lower priority

So long as they do not moan when they cannot get a flight to go on holiday. The purpose of the vaccine is to protect not only ones health but also the health of others. We all have to take responsibility and roll our sleeve up. I understand people have concerns, they should speak to the appropriate health care professional.

I had mine yesterday after doing plenty of reading and looking into how previous pandemics were defeated. It was the Pfizer vaccine and we were told to stay for 15 minutes afterwards because in a very few cases there has been an anaphylactic shock response but they were ready to give treatment and no one had died because of it (the response is pretty much immediate and would be seen well within 15 minutes)

The last pandemic we suffered wasn't a Coronavirus but TB, which was defeated by the BCG injection. TB still occurs because people think its gone away and don't get the BCG !

There is virtually no evidence anywhere that vaccines cause any long term issues - the issues began when that Doctor declared several years ago that MMR caused learning difficulties in 20% of recipients, he failed to mention that his research was based on 5 recipients where one had learning difficulties(that's where the 20% came from !) He has since been struck off and his claims completely debunked but the headlines are still out there for people to read and believe.

I don't kid myself that I can't now spread Covid - I can, even by touch. A Virus has no means of self propulsion so it relies on us to spread, just because you are mostly protected from catching it will never mean you can't spread it. Unfortunately I have met several people who have been vaccinated who now appear to believe they are immortal !

Its a personal choice, no doubt, but there are a lot of people Dead that shouldn't be

people saying you cant make it compulsory for holidays are wrong if you want to go to certain countries ie Brazil you need yellow fever if you havnt had it you are refused admission.
I agree with the vaccine and have had my first jab but i think it is totally wrong to say the goverment to make it compulsory

This time last year you said the virus was caused by 5G masts, so don't be surprised if I don't take much notice of your thoughts.

You're wrong about it being nobody's business. Covid is a socially transmittable virus. The point of the vaccines is to both mitigate the severity of the impact on individuals who are infected and to help reduce the spread of the virus in public areas. Those who refuse to take it are not saying that they will, therefore, isolate themselves from the public. As such, it is everybody's business that we are vaccinated for the benefit of society as a whole.

Or stay out of society.

so presumably you have the evidence that the vaccine reduces transmission then?

Of course I don't. I presume, therefore, that, for you, this means I am a hypocrite for commenting on the issue. Or, is it reasonable that I behave like an adult, using my powers of deduction to understand why scientists have created these vaccines and the reasons why both they and our political leaders (of all colours) have chosen to support the rollout of the vaccination programmes. If that is reasonable then it follows that it is reasonable for me to accept it as a benefit?

Told you lot many weeks ago Dr's were advising women (cerain types eg child bearing age) not to have vaccine until it has been researched fully.

I've no time or sympathy for those who can have the vaccine but don't, they're simply hoping enough people get it so they're not in any danger, they're also thick as fuck and fail to do any real research, it takes %90+ percent vaccine uptake to provide true herd immunity, just like measles.

Fuck their rights and fuck them 👍

One in 36,000 chance of a fatal reaction.

There's no hardship in waiting 👍🏻

A survey has shown it prevents transmission by two thirds. I don't believe it should be made compulsory, but if a significant number don't have it other measures will need to be in place effectively extending the lockdown period, which will impact those who have had it as well.

Some idiots probably said the same about the 'Flu jab.
How much has the influenza jab saved the country, both in lives, and in hospitalisation.
I had Asian Flu' in the 50s. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy,
Get the Jab, you know it's right.

1 in 36000 chance of a fatal reaction to the vaccine, what are the odds of contracting covid and it killing you?
This figure could put things in perspective for some people who are reluctant to have the jab.
No idea what the figure is but I'm guessing it must be much more likely than the vaccine killing you.

The world wouldn’t be worse off if a mass culling of fuckwits happened. Perhaps Covid can finally be a liberator once we get the world vaccinated, and it spends its time wiping out the social media fed anti vaccers.
Maybe there can be an official “once in a lifetime” opt out form they can have? Once signed there is no going back later when they decide to hedge their bets after spouting off misinformation dangerously to the gullible for the past 12 months.

“Oh it’s just flu is it...... good luck sir”

I don't really understand why people say 'just flu'. It kills 100s of 1000s of people every year, maybe the flu jab should be given to the whole population as well as the covid jab.
Might save the country money as the NHS struggles to deal with the demands of flu, covid has just made a bad situation worse.

You’ve a point there. Last year was a really high take up of the flu jab compared to previous years - id hate to guess what state the NHS would have been in without the uptake.

how about data then?

'Meanwhile, Prof Peter Openshaw, a member of the New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group (Nervtag), told BBC Radio 4's Broadcasting House programme that vaccine transmission data was "looking really good", but scientists still needed to estimate by how much the vaccine interrupted transmission'.

Depends on your personal risk profile I suppose but yeah, it probably is lower.

There isn't the same age breakdown for vaccine deaths with the yellow card scheme and they aren't counted 'within 28 days' like they are with the Rona so it is difficult to say definitively.

As long as people feel informed before jabbing up, I couldn't give two shiny shits really.

Because people think a bad cold is flu.

A bad cold is quite unpleasant but I think people ringing in to work have to upgrade it to flu to sound credible.
I blame bosses for making us feel guilty for being ill once in a while!
Hopefully people going in to work with a 'sniffle' won't be tolerated in future, it's only hope though, everything will probably revert back to exactly as it was before in a few months. There's already stories of bosses making people go into the office.

Sadly the positive things that have come about as a result of this situation will probably be the first things to go.
Give it 2 or 3 months and it will be almost like it never happened!

Again not evidence.Just a member of SAGE making a statement with nothing to back it up. Why wont they publish that data so the public can view it?

Totally agree with that, most bosses will definitely revert back to ‘if you’re well enough to work get in’ regardless of what you may be spreading 🥴

I'll be having my jab as soon as I get given the chance. One member of my household has already had it and for that im very grateful. As far as I'm concerned if you dont have it for any other reason than you're not able to then you're socially irresponsible and I don't want to know you or ever cross your path.
