Ronan: We Managed The Game Well

Connor Ronan feels Blackpool managed the match against Southend well, and were worthy of the three points in their 2-1 victory.
Ronan, who was one of five players in the starting XI to make their home debut for the Seasiders, was awarded the Man Of The Match award. The loanee impressed in the heart of the Blackpool midfielder alongside fellow debutant Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, and the 21-year-old was pleased with his individual performance as well as the team's.

"I thought it was a good performance from myself and from the team overall," Ronan said.

"The conditions were difficult with a really powerful wind, but I think as a team we judged it well. The two strikers were really powerful units and as midfielders, we were able to use that to our advantage.

"Overall, I'm pleased to have won the Man Of The Match, and it's nice to be recognised, but the three points are what matters."

Blackpool had to be patient in the match, with several early chances not going their way, before Armand Gnanduillet found the back of the net with ten minutes of the first half remaining.

"I think our patience in the match was one of the most pleasing things," Ronan said.

"We were the favourites for the match, and having not won in a while really put the pressure on, but I think we did well to not panic and eventually took the lead.

"These are good signs and we need to keep going and back it up with another good performance and victory over Gillingham here on Tuesday evening."

Speaks like a veteran pro. He's got a bright future, from the Wycombe game he had a bit of Wesley Hoolahan about him. Be interesting to see how his career progresses.

I was seriously impressed by his work rate on Saturday. He covered the overlapping FB giving Bola protection and then bursting forward in support consistently.
The 2 youngsters really exposed what we have missed all season - a forward pass from midfield that wasn't either neck height for Gnando, or 30 yards over the forwards head fizzing for a goalkick.

I thought he was excellent on Saturday as was Dewsbury-Hall and Taylor Moore. Same on Tuesday would be fab if it’s not called off. Spose to be very wet and windy tomorrow aswell
