Rooney leaving Derby

Things going from bad to worse there.

Wonder if this had any impact on Rosenior.

With Rooney's name and the respectable job he did at Derby he's likely to get a good job in the near future and will probably take Rosenior with him.

Who's going to take up that job with the uncertainty hanging over the club? Answer: someone desperate

Or maybe he fancied the top gig himself and wanted to know if WR thought it was a possibility?

We'll never know if Rosenior was our 1st choice.
He & Rooney make a good team & will do well away from Derby - they outplayed us in our last home game of the season.

Not one bit surprised had a feeling Rooney told him about this when they met.

Ideally better for him starting off in a lower league anyway

I think Rosenoir was definitely our first choice

I don't think so, I think the betting odds were driven by Derby fans seeing the collapse of the takeover and putting 2 + 2 together, everyone got excited about that and assumed it was a done deal, so when it didn't happen everyone started looking for (and inventing) reasons why.

Unless the takeover goes through in the next 24/48 hours I can see an exodus of players who have been holding off on signing elsewhere in order to play for Rooney. A lot of their young prospects and even older players were out of contract but had verbally committed to staying with the club to help rebuild… without Rooney that commitment likely disappears too.

I think Rosenoir was definitely our first choice and won't follow Wayne Rooney anywhere because his next role will be as a number 1. Maybe even at Derby. Just my opinion of course.
I mean our owner outright denied that and said Appleton was unanimous first choice. No reason not to believe Sadler as far as I’m concerned - and as far as bookmakers odds go I’d pay absolutely zero interest. Grayson was a favourite in their eyes but not in a million years would Mansford or Sadler have reappointed him.

Having bought the ground it looks like the take over is imminent. Maybe Mr Rooney was waiting for that to happen so that he could leave with a clear conscience? As for his assistant, will be interesting to see if he takes the top job now

You couldn’t make it up, apparently Appleton is being interviewed for the derby job according to radio lancs
Well according to most on here he is very good at interviews so the job will be his. IF that is true of course.
And if so then the board should fuck him off straight away.
He’s probably trying to set a record for the shortest stint at any club.
67 days with Blackburn. 65 days with us.

The Rosenior situation explains itself adequately now, dont leave Leroy, this gig will be yours shortly.
Didn’t he say he had to go and speak to Rooney?
My guess is it was more of a case that Rooney informed Rosenior of his intentions to leave so to hang fire.

Because you think the bookies are 100% correct.

🤣🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
Why are you laughing you weirdo the job was offered to him and he asked for time, then decided he didn't want it due to the Derby situation

Anyway i didn't want the club to make the same mistake twice

I'm more than happy with the Appleton appointment

Rooney's agent Paul Stretford was constantly seen with Chris Kirchner as was rumoured to be receiving a place on the board, along with Gary Cook the former Manchester City CEO who was poised to take the CEO role at Derby . With Kirchner bid failing , Rooney resigns within days , possible more to this than is currently in the public domain !
