Rough sleeping is a lifestyle choice

Really thought provoking thread and thankyou @TSSeasider for your personal insight. A very difficult issue. Visiting cities across the world it seems it's not just a British problem. In fact there are whole tented communities from Africa to the United States.

That said, I would imagine a small percentage of those living in tents would call their living circumstances a "lifestyle choice". And for that Braverman is an utter scumbag.

A woman who has risen to the very top of British society because of immigration who now despises the very people her parents were.

Perfect example of an ill-thought out pre election rhetoric for a targeted demographic, which actually just comes across as uncaring, cruel and thick.
Heaven forbid someone in her position and influence would actually tackle the problem in a positive manner, where they actually appear to care for humanity.

It is widely thought that Suella wants to be the next leader of the Conservative party and is positioning herself to win the leadership when the Conservative party membership votes on it. I suppose that this might work with the aged golf club bores, assorted fruitcakes and other right wingers that make up the grass roots of the Conservative party. The trouble for Suella is that in general the British people are much better than her callous, divisive and often wicked rhetoric and policies. IMO they would not vote in large numbers for her hatred. So a Braverman leadership would in all likelihood condemn the Cons to years in opposition - they probably need it.

My son told me an interesting stat that should have all Conservatives thinking; amongst the under 25s support for the Conservative party is at 1%. We are witnessing the end of an era IMO, Reganite / Thatcherite economics has run its course, there is more or less nothing left to sell and the results of all the privatisations are not great.

Privatisation has gone that well there's a groundswell of support for nationalisation of key infrastructure and public utilities.

Just seen a stat that says 13% of under 50s intend to vote Tory of those who did in 2019.

All in all, a collapsed vote

They are broken. And as we can see with the casting out of licenses for gas and oil, feathering their nests financially at the expense of young people, before facing the inevitable disgraceful and overwhelming exit which could last for decades.
