In the Black Sea after alleging it crossed into Russian territory. BBC News and other media reporting.
 
HMS Defender. Not sure what they were doing that close. I'm guessing it's a case of seeing what the reaction was like.
 
Russians pushing the boundaries, bombs is unusual, though. Putin is determined to recreate a large Russian empire, the RN are in the front line of passively making it difficult.

Kurt, you are far more connected than I am, but Defender is shown in the Persian Gulf atm??
 
BBC news is actually reporting that shots weren't fired. I'm fairly sure the Russian's wouldn't welcome the entire British fleet and NATO getting involved with them.

Putin playing the big man for his own country after being told how it is by Biden presumably.

Hmm I was told Defender or at least a Type 45.
 
MOD confirmed it was Defender and they were passing just as the Russians were doing firing exercises in the area. How convenient. No idea why we have our ships in that area for anything other than being provocative.
 
In other news the French surrendered 30 seconds before the Italians and the rest of the EU are more concerned about irregular shaped cucumbers....
 
Wasn’t off Russian waters it was off Crimea waters which belong to Ukraine, the ship had just left Odessa on a good will mission.
Crimea forcibly taken by Russia that only Russia claims is now theirs.
Think both sides just knew what was about to happen.

It was probably a rehearsal for the big China confrontation. The Queen Elizabeth is due to lead a multi-national flotilla through seas in the far-east later this year as an expression of the freedom of navigation in international waters.
 
There was a Dutch frigate there as well not just a British vessel. Apparently the US withdrew their destroyer that had been in manoeuvres with the Dutch and UK ships.
