Sadler - Realist or Ruthless?

I was thinking about Sadler tonight and what he’ll be thinking. If he reads the message boards and social media, he’ll be in no doubt that Grayson has lost a large percentage of the fanbase with the way he has coached the side.

Whilst some say it was a tough job he walked in to, the fact is we weren’t a club (like Bolton) with no players or points deductions and debts hanging over us. We had a reasonable squad and all it needed was some fine tuning and a few additions. Ironically, I do think Grayson has improved the personnel but not the team (if that makes sense!).

His tactics are often baffling - especially when we’ve never really been a fanbase who has expected the world this season - we’re just glad to have our club back. However that goodwill could quickly disappear unless things start to improve.

So back to my original question - is Simon realistic or ruthless. This season was always one to build foundations and start to build the club. I think he is realistic enough to know we were never going to go up automatically at the first time of asking.

However, he is a businessman, and whilst you can tell he loves this club and this town, we’d be foolish to think he didn’t want a return (a mistake many made with Valeri). With that in mind and with the vitriolic reaction to recent results, would he be ruthless and pull the plug on Grayson?

To be honest, nothing would surprise me. The one other thing I’d say is will Larry walk? I genuinely don’t think he’s enjoying his time back at Blackpool and a part of me wonders if there’ll come to an arrangement?

Well am already thinking 50/50 about if I want to spend next Saturday going through 90 minutes of frustration when life is difficult enough!

Might have to take one for the team to keep the fans on side - if I were him I’d bring Evatt in with GTF and give them some league experience ready for next year.

First game would see a 10k crowd.

I’m not travelling all the way from South Yorkshire to watch that shite. I’m sure a few locals will have to have a hard think.

All the momentum from the regime change is slowly dissipating. Crowds will slip if he stays and this woeful brand of football persists

He's just backed SG significantly, so I doubt he will be panicked into any precipitate decision. He does read the message boards though, so will know what people are saying.

I disagree about expectations. I think some people are being wholly unrealistic about what is currently possible, given the mess the current regime inherited. The interim Board made a good start on clearing it up, but even now there is a hell of a lot more to do.

The squad is better than last season.
If we fail to finish 10th or above Grayson has taken us backwards and has to go. Simple as that for me

I dont think SG showed any passion or emotion in the whole of his time back here and that really irked me...I am sue SS and his staff also picked up on this and the manager had to go. He was given every chance and can have no complaints. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but that game at Bolton away really pissed a lot of fans off and drained the feel good factor...he could have been sacked on that performance alone for me. I think the chairman has played a blinder so far and this was never going to be a case of flicking a switch and everything coming up roses after years of neglect

The interesting thing is that Sadler will have spoken with Grayson every day practically and so will have had a very different relationship than the fans had with him. Surely as they were going along if there were any problems then Sadler would have pointed them off. As a long term project, I am still quite surprised he pulled the trigger on results rather than building the club. Maybe he's more fan than businessman after all?

The last time Grayson showed passion at a Blackpool game was when he was managing Preston and they scored against us. Fact.

That Bolton game sums his time up here
Boring and lethargic
No balls
No imagination

I actually wonder just how much input, Simon Sadler had into the choice of Grayson as manager. When he took over ownership, he had little or no experience of owning a football club and in the early days was very much reliant on the input of the “trusted board of directors” appointed by the receiver. I am certain they will have come up with a shortlist and put their recommendations to Sadler for him to approve / rubber stamp.

Im not sure there was a shortlist,he was appointed so quickly,I think Mr Sadler had decided he wanted grayson from the start.
