Safe standing in the East Stand?

All clubs in the top two tiers of English football can apply to operate licensed safe standing areas next season, the government has announced.

Cardiff, Chelsea, Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham took part in a safe standing pilot in the second half of last season.

Now Brentford, QPR and Wolves are set to join those clubs in offering designated areas for both home and away fans from the start of the next season.

Wembley will also offer limited safe standing for fans from both sets of clubs at domestic matches later in the season, the government said.

The pilot scheme marked a reversal of the 30-year rule requiring all-seater stadiums.

Stadiums in England's top two leagues have had to be all-seater since laws were introduced in 1989, in the wake of the Hillsborough disaster.

Depends what gets the most fans in when I did safe standing at Cardiff it took more room than conventional seating.

I insist on safe seating ..... as standing still for just half an hour kills my worn out knees & back. All caused by football but I would change a thing 👍
The North thought we'd had safe standing since returning from lockdown 🤣

Was disappointed when it went but having been to a few festivals of late, I think I now quite enjoy a seat (won’t be long before the smoking jacket, rug and flask comes out!).

There are still seats with safe standing. :) just a barrier added which also has the added bonus of helping people to get up from their seat! 😄 Although cigars maybe could be added as an option for those in smoking jackets.

Said before, don't really see the point. No increase in attendance as they are still seats just locked either up or down so why bother spending the money. People stand in the North anyway.
