Salford City friendly announced

Which of the Salfords clubs is this? The one who are owned by Herman Munster etc or the one who play at the Theatre of Schemes?

Obviously not Manchester City because they actually play in Manchester.

All about fitness for the lads, going off pre games season a bit.

I would maybe go to a decent one at home, if it was a reasonable price.

Highlight for me while driving to the ground for one of the Saturday friendlies was spotting the amount of Hasidic Jews about, many wearing the very noticable shtreimel hat.

Does anyone know whether this will be a pay on the gate game? It's not mentioned on the club website for this or any other friendlies. Slightly begrudge having to pay the extra 'service' fee in advance for a pre season game that's right on my doorstep.

Quickest way is to phone Salford up Monday morning and ask if it's POG I've done it in the past for away friendlies.

I reckon the old Pay of the Day will be non existent in 2/3 years time - went in two coffee shops today neither of which would take cash.

I don't think POTG specifies that cash is needed - it's just an option to pay on the day..

Because the banks have dictated that we will pay with card. Hence, closing down most establishments to make it almost impossible for any of us to use cash.

Drink your coffee, eat your food and when the bill arrives tell them you can't get a credit card and only carry cash.

I don't know what people want . Do they want a preseason where we win most of our games and possibly build our confidence or arrange a match with a top prem club that will use a load of reserves and kids and probably beat us. The friendlies are exactly what they say they are and are used only to build the team and test them.

I think one away friendly against a decent club as a treat to the fans for a good day out and build some atmosphere isn’t asking to much, I remember Blackburn a couple of years ago played Celtic away.

Some smaller businesses now prefer cash for smaller sales to avoid the rising transaction costs of electronic payments. My local butchers, Chinese takeaway, and bowling club are just three in my village.

Debit card fees are capped at 0.35% in the UK. If those businesses are relying on 1/3 of 1% margin to keep them going, they won't be around long anyway. I'd suggest it's more likely to do with declaring tax...

Unless you are talking about a Manchester or Liverpool club then I don't think too many are going to travel for an away game. Also if that's the case I still can't see there being that good an atmosphere at a Prem ground although Everton's new ground may attract a few.

It's all a balance. There will be reasons for picking the level of opposition we play.
I dont see any point in being whipping boys for PL or European clubs.
Also think how much money is saved by not travelling although I don't think an overseas training camp has been ruled out.
Better to be the whipping boys of a PL team than getting whipped by Fleetwood Town.

They prefer cash to avoid paying tax.

Depriving us all of tax revenue.
