Salford v Blackpool Official Matchnight Thread 19.07.22

Looking forward to following it one way or another. Be better if it is on YouTube. One of the other Salford friendlies was. So get this on.

Does anyone know how much tickets are on the gate?
From Salford website:

Tickets can be purchased online in advance, or supporters can pay cash on the gate for the West Stand. Only the North and West Stands will be open for home supporters, and the East Stand for travelling fans.
Adults: £7 Concessions: £4 Under-16s: £2

MApp said something like Saturdays bench would get a chance tonight to stake a claim. So lets guess the starting XI...

Maxwell
Moore Tharme Thorniley Hughes
Fiorini Virtue Dale
Lavery Yates Lubala

Given the heat I'd expect two different XIs for the two halves though. Some more young lads given a chance probably?

Is the game under weather scrutiny or is it definitely going ahead ?

It sounds like it's going ahead. The clubs have looked at the forecasted temperatutes and decided that an 8pm kick off will work. It'll be in the high 20s at 8pm. In the shade. 😬

Not sure why they haven't put it back 24 hours. Would be a better work out surely.

Anyone know where to park?
Lots of places to park on nearby streets, but you won’t be able too on Moor Lane. I’m parking (well the Mrs is) in Prestwich centre as there are 2 free large car parks. Will enjoy a few amber nectars in and around before getting either a taxi or bus to the ground (30 min walk).

It's a nightmare round by the ground due to match days needing a resident permit. Closest I could find that had a stretch with no yellow lines or requirement for parking permits is Kersal Road about a 10-15 minute walk from the ground.

I live in South Manchester but the ground isn't the easiest place to get to on public transport, also don't fancy sweating away on a bus so taking the same option as above and parking in Prestwich then get a taxi to the ground.Untitled.png

Seems unlikely there will be a stream on TTV or YouTube, you'd have thought they would have announced it by now.
Plenty of updates from those attending please. :)

Kersal Rd is a good shout and I'd suggest approaching it from Hilton Lane rather than Moor Lane.

Im in Old Trafford and can't be arsed to go tonight! Just the heat which is doing me in. Not easy to get there though as ive no car and its off the beaten track. I went in a mates car last season to Salford v Bradford and parked about 10 minutes walk from the ground on a street. To the south/west of the ground iirc. Possibly Oaklands Rd in Lower Kersal, looking at the map.

You can park on the "lower half" of Oaklands Rd, the river side of the chicane.

Puts a lot of work on Ward that
Agreed, but in Appleton's system that position (DM behind two CAMs) will always have their work cut out for them, if we were to re-sign Ward then that's where he'd play so if he can't do it against Salford then he can't do it against teams in the Champ.

I'm not certain he would play that position. Ward gets forward more than Dougall, Stewart or Connolly.
