Shamima Begum again

It is interesting that the same people arguing that Gove's student speeches that included vile racism, sexist comments and derided northerners should be forgiven because of his youth are the same ones saying Begun knew what she was doing at 15 and will never change.
Well... I'm not one of those people you describe. Gove makes my skin crawl... and I don't think she should be allowed back.

I think some of the things I said when I was 15 wouldn’t cut the mustard these days, and views I do not hold anymore.

….but I didn’t run off to join an organisation that beheaded people all the time.

There is a massive difference in the offences and I can’t stand Gove!!!

Frankly I think the “New Look” is a direct appeal to the PM.

I’m sure she could provide IT support. 👍
I’m sold now.
Now she’s the new face of terrorist chic we should welcome her back. Before she didn’t cut it. Her nails weren’t great, she’d given up on her hair styling; that burqa was ill fitting.

Ive no idea if she’s really repentant but now she looks like a woman I’d be happy to be eviscerated by in a suicide bombing it’s all good from me.

Bring back the new Begum babe 👍

I think it might be the shades, pouty lips and the long glossy hair that does it.

The sort of square box on the top of the head and the all teeth look that she tried before didn’t really work.

Definite PM appeal

The way Javid was talking this morning there’s info in her not yet in the public domain

Suggested if we has seen what he had ….

Have to say made me think she’s been involved in some serious stuff
You believe him? The guy who took her citizenship away, even though she was born here, its unprecedented. Unfortunately she is our problem, it isn't right that she isn't brought back to face justice. That's the correct way of doing it, not merely washing your hands of someone to create a problem for other countries. This might not be the populist view but its the correct one, it doesn't matter whether she's murdered a million babies, she is a UK citizen and should be dealt with by us. This precedent is quite troubling, where do you draw the line otherwise?

I think it’s a great prec, deport all criminals to a Syrian refugee camp, that would solve a whole raft of problems.

Let's just remind ourselves that no one believes she should be let back in to the country and let free to do what she wants. There should be consequences for her actions.
However there are massive problems with the way the government has acted. She was born in the UK and only held British Citizenship. It breaks international law to make a person stateless (not that breaking the law ever bothers this corrupt government). It also sets a dangerous and frankly racist precedent that anybody with an immigrant background could have their rights to UK citizenship revoked on the political choice of the government.
Secondly she was a child when she left the UK. In any domestic situation she would be regarded as a victim of grooming. The government chooses to ignore her age because it is convenient to have a brown skinned hate figure to push it's populist scapegoating agenda and appeal to its far right supporters.

She’s not our problem she no longer has a passport so fu*k her.
Even if she by some miracle she did return to face the music it would cost millions of pounds in a high court case no doubt an appeal afterwards when she loses it.
Do you seriously want that?
Personally I wouldn’t throw a quid in her direction.
She’s not our problem as she doesn’t have a passport and she couldn’t wait to get to Syria so it’s their problem now not ours.
She’s in the promised land let her rot there.

It’s a bit odd that the people who keep calling for Anne Sacoolas to be extradited from the US to face charges in a U.K. court, don’t think Shamima Begum should be brought back to face a trial in the U.K.

Nowt so queer as folk.

Yes but Gove's just a mindless idiot.

Wasn't Begum a minor when she joined IS? Could she be convicted? Either way wouldn't be long before she's on our streets again, at least Sacoolas would fcuk off home.

I think the image change is interesting. Presumably suggested by her lawyers?

I don't really see a satisfactory conclusion to this situation. There has to be a clear consequence to her actions, but she was also a very impressionable child when she made them. I doubt any fathers on here would not support their daughters if an older man groomed them into acts and situations that were wrong. I appreciate that the scale of the acts and implications are way beyond any 'normal' situation and need to be factored in, both from a perception of justice and also from a political angle.

She went too far with the clothing / fashion transformation. I’d have preferred to have seen a more ‘conservative’ look.

So it’s a big No from me 👎

I bet any money Anne Sacoolas didn't set out that day to kill that poor lad, but we all at sometime make a mistakes, on the road, at work or in our leisure time unlike ms Begum who travelled knowingly to join a group egaged in killing and injuring her own (UK) citizens.
Yes the case for diplomatic immunity is passed it's self by date, much more is made of the Sacoolas case than the killing and attemped killings following the Saslisbury poioning by the Russians who will not give up their two guys to face trail here, or the murderer allowed to walk free from the embassy following the killing of woman PC Y Fletcher in London.

I agree that the Anne Saccolas incident was an accident whereas the decision and actions of Shamima Begum were deliberate and planned (leaving aside the issues of her age and grooming for a moment).

That’s what makes the views of some posters even more bizarre. They want someone who caused a death by accident to face British Justice but someone who intentionally joined a murderous terrorist group shouldn’t be brought to trial.

It makes no sense at all to me.

What hasn't been commented on yet is that the interview was done through the UK's most right wing news source.
It's obviously done as a piece to get their audience frothing at the mouth.

That said, I'm conflicted. If she came back and was genuinely repentant and spent time talking to similar at risk teenagers, that'd be a loss. If she was taking the piss, as suggested by her snidey comments about UK Foreign Policy (which are correct but ** read the room, bint) then maybe help her way to the nearest safe Islamic country.

To my mind it’s a strange case.
It’s an emotive issue, and we all have, and are entitled to, our own opinions of terrorist vs grooming victim, and whatever results from those viewpoints.

But, as someone posted earlier, there are loads of ex-ISIS fighters back in the UK. There are deradicalisation programs set up for them (whether we think they can work or not is a separate issue).
What makes this woman different to them? Is there something we don’t know? Why don’t we know it?

Breaking the law has never bothered any government.

Mex is it possible that many feel that with Sacoolas she would be no threat to the citizens of this country and that she should appear in a court of law like anyone else.
With Ms Begum, (unlike those calling for the return of the US lady) might never feel safe, even if convicted and in prison she might well influence others she came into contact with and if not convicted would just join the other few thousand souls on a watch list
In short, Sacoolas brings no possible threat and therefore should come and face the music, while Begum here in any shape of form is best not brought back as there no telling what she may do in the future.
