Anyone ever been? Great little pub.

Went fishing yesterday over at Walney Island crap fishing and the heat got the better of us so we decided to go check the pub out.

First time I’ve ever been won’t be the last fantastic place to visit along with the 14th century castle pretty much next door, there’s even camping available at £5 a night booked at the pub.

Surprised at how many people were there and how many people had made the trip over from the Fylde coast in boats/jet skis.

The Ulverston Blonde went down quicker than than the anchor.

All in all a great trip to a pub on an island sadly we had to call time and back to the crap fishing. 😟🌞

I think I’ve seen a documentary on it on TV. Looked worth a visit for its uniqueness.

Do they still do the ceremonial crowning of a visitor each night?

Been many years since I've been there. We used to sail across regularly, but the wife is too scared to take the kids on open water so we stick to the lakes these days.

Yes, went many years ago with a scuba diving club. Launched from Knott End, did some drift diving and had lunch etc at the pub. It has a charm all of its own. From memory you can access it by foot when the tide is out, or is that a fudged memory??

It’s called the Kings chair but it’s away being renovated apparently so not back till September.
You sit in it and you have to buy everyone in the pub a round but no one tells you that before sitting in it.
Yes you can access it by car or on foot from a causeway at low tide from Walney Island as i noticed several cars by the pub and by the 5 terraced houses.
