Pleased to say the shirt Initiative is now live

Thanks and well done to all concerned

Blackpool Football Club, Blackpool FC Community Trust and the Blackpool Supporters Trust are pleased to confirm the launch of an exciting new collaboration that will bring the Club even closer to the heart of the community it represents.

From 6 December, we will be ensuring that every child in Year 2 from all Blackpool primary schools, will have their own Blackpool shirt to wear with pride.

This is a major initiative that would not have been possible had we not worked in close partnership together. We will continue to look for opportunities to demonstrate the power that a football club, it’s charitable organisation and its supporters can have when they work together.

Ben Mansford, Chief Executive Officer of Blackpool Football Club said:
“We are delighted to be reconnecting with the younger generation through this initiative and hope to welcome even more young fans back to Bloomfield Road. We are working hard to re-establish the connection with our fans and look forward to engaging with supporters in new and exciting ways.”

Ashley Hackett, Chief Executive Officer of Blackpool Community Trust said:
“This is a fantastic initiative that we are very proud to assist with. For the fans and club to come together to make sure every child in Year 2 receives a shirt is a great gesture and we are really excited to use our contacts with every school across Blackpool to organise and deliver all the shirts to all the smiling faces. Collectively, we have a responsibility to build the next generation of fans and see more and more children in the town proudly wearing the shirt and supporting their hometown. This is the first of many plans we have to engage with the community, fans and local residents and is another key example that shows how far the Club, Community Trust and supporters group have travelled, since Simon’s involvement.”

Supporters’ Trust Chair Andy Higgins said:
"BST are proud to be helping to finance this initiative and to be working closely with Blackpool Football Club and the Community Trust. Hopefully it will encourage more Young Seasiders to attend Bloomfield Road and be introduced to a lifetime following Blackpool FC. We also hope this is something we can replicate in future years to ensure we never again experience what has sometimes been referred to as a lost generation of fans."

Superb effort to all involved. The future is bright. 👍🏻

My son ( year 1 in primary ) wears his pool shirt with pride up here in Carlisle.

ps, any idea if the shirts will be made available for general sale ? My boy would wear one.

Great stuff.
Coincidentally I’m on a train from Carlisle to TGC now - played at The Brickyard last night - car 🚘 broke down on M6 so stranded up here … nice City TBF 🤣🧡🙏

The Brickyard is a great venue Rox.
if you ever venture back up this way again, try ‘ The old fire station’ as an alternative venue.
* Better acoustics in there imo.

I thought I saw somewhere that home shirts were now in stock?

Ah right, sort of misread the story.
I thought it was a supporters trust shirt. Like the alternative shirt that was available during the boycott years, with the supporters trust badge on the shirt.

Note to self … read the posts properly before asking.

Do you often comment on people you don’t know?
See the thing is with this forum, is even you don’t know who you’re talking to. I’ve got an idea of who you are by the fact you’re coming to that hooligans rescue. - one of his ducklings I’d presume.

Anyway, this thread is for the children Mucker, I’m sure we’ll speak again soon on a more relevant post.

Yes, Accrington have been doing this for a few years - but they have a much smaller catchment area, so it's a far lower quantity. I think they do older kids though, 10-12 year olds or something.

This is a great iniative that I believe was originally thought of by Dave Ragozzino of the MSG? It’s an excellent idea and is a credit to the club. We lost a generation, now it’s time to gain a new one.
Yes he also invented sliced bread and tipped off Crick + Watson about the possibility of tracing the human genome - I think he’s moved on to be a Real Ale Connoisseur these days - always had an inkling about the latent wisdom in our suppporters - talented bunch 🤣🙏⚽👍🧡

Great idea by Raggers and well followed up by all

Hopefully he can now focus his energies on the words for the new Lavery song I've commissioned 😆

Also an up and coming golfer so I hear. One to watch 🏌️‍♂️🥇😀

Tremendous initiative this. So who’s idea was this in the first instance ?

They've been doing it at Accrington Stanley for years. Of course, Accrington is smaller than Blackpool, so well done to everyone involved in this initiative.

Catch'em early and you've got'em for life.

I hope we get to see some photos of happy young Seasiders in their new shirts. 🍊🍊

All my London footie friends think important gestures like this win kids/new fans for life - once again new thinking =s new positivity

Code have just given free shirts to primary schools here in Fleetwood.
There are loads of us Seasiders here in FY7 so would love to see us try and do something similar here. I would imagine cost is a factor mind.
Great initiative guys.
