Simms vs lubala

Best game for Bez tonight, however not sure it will be enough, Simms will have to start and that may mean Yates takes the place of Bez out wide🤔

Bez did well tonight, started brightly and helped us take the initiative.
Agreed.
Also well done to Simms for a great cameo....and put us into a plus goal difference even if we only went up 1 place..unless the Cods go onto loose...assuming the BBC table is correct🤔😳

I really enjoyed both performances - Bez hopefully coming of age in a Pool shirt and Simms seizing the moment briliantly.

I think if you are doing a Simms comparison it's got to be with Yates.
There's been lots of criticism on this Board of Critchy playing players out of position.
I accept that I've not seen much of Simms yet but for me it looks like his position will be alongside Madine, close and personal.
He did that last night (closer than Gerry does) and for me that will be his best position.
Let someone else play out wide.

Some of our fans always need someone to bully.

Turton didn't play so he couldn't targeted. Maxwell had yet another good game.
Williams kept the game ticking over.
Nuttall is out for whatever reason.
Hardie is a Plymouth.

Has to be Bez then.

Lubala seems to be showing signs of getting better now he is getting more game time.
Very few younger players will be able to be used in different positions, in different systems, weeks apart and be able to contribute to a high level.
I'd be tempted to give him an extended run on the left wing and see how he gets on; that has to be more likely to improve his output than him now disappearing after 70 mins last night and only getting a couple of cameo sub performances in games we're chasing going forward.

As I said before last night was his best game but he needs to build on this and look to be positive. Use his skill and strength to try and make things happen, too many games before last night he made little impact, and went unnoticed. This is not having a go, I think there is a real good player here just needs to show a bit more confidence and almost swagger. When CJ plays it doesn’t always work for him, but you do notice his effort and the fact he tries to take the game to the opposition.

agreed, Williams did well, more confident on the ball and his distribution was generally good. Looked reasonably robust as well. Hope he gets more chances.
