Sir Keir has Zero political judgement

After 3 u turns in a Month Starmer may be a decent lawyer but as a politician he’s useless. At the October conference the membership should get rid.
4, the island of strangers speech. Ironically that apparently polled well, but not with his voters.

He claims he didn't read it, probably bollox, either way hes either incompetent or a liar.

Further problems for him, small boat crossings are 48% up in the first half of this year, reaching almost 20,000.

She mentioned it by that quote, or are you making mischief again...
She was obviously making a joke, something the right aren't good at picking up, being humourless, as can be seen by the dearth of right wing comedians. Jim Davidson, Geoff Northcott, ....errr

It leads to needless comments on her appearance, something male politicians never have to deal with.

Wiz, you talk about joking, but seem to be taking this very seriously.

Perhaps I should have put it on the Friday Jokes.

% is pointelss with that small a number.

Hes also basically lost his whole party and is u-turning to his rebels.
I campainged for the rebels on the shocking disabilty bill in my own small way, I wish I could have done more. That's the difference between you and I, I go on facts and you have a narrative you will never deviate from. I think your better than that.

No I just see the bigger picture on what right now is the best hope to sweep aside the 2 party system and bring in fundamental change.

No you don't and no I don't, thats just wrong.

Oh it's just you that sees the bigger picture I agree. In the unlikely event Reform sweep to victory (they won't ever) here is what happen. Assuming they last 5 years (they won't) they will vanish without trace as the hegemon takes hold again. They are a bunch of rabble, incapable of governing because they seriously believe intentions trump policy. The real world doesn't work like that and that's why Reform will never happen.

There's a lot they wont do, they won't pass 30% in the polls, won't win local elections etc etc.

Tbh it doesn't matter if it's not reform as long as change happens and it's coming.

You're definitely bitter and deluded about them.

I'm realistic you are not, yet you know how politics work in this country. The problem is the establishment aren't afaid of them so nothing will change just Tories mk2. If they get lucky they will be in coalition with Tories mk1. A Lib/Lab pact is far more likely in 2029.

Oh are you...

Anyway we'll see won't we.

Starmer is a strange guy.
Obviously good at his real job but useless as PM.
If Labour want to stand any chance in the next election they have to replace him as Party Leader NOW.

If he was replaced, all we would hear from the right about the new Leader would be

“You weren’t elected”
“You don’t have a mandate”
“What we need is a general election so the winner has a mandate”

Why have a GE when Labour already hold far more seats than the Tories do??

Are you disabled?

That sounds pretty similar to Labour in opposition, in fact I think you must have quoted them.

Yup, absolutely fecked from reckless lifestyle choices all my own doing I suspect. I didn't ask to be put on LCWRA but even the DWP recognised I won't work again, to me it felt like I'd given up. I applied for PIP and I will never humiliate myself like that again, I'd sooner starve.

You sound like a smart ish bloke

Surely there is something you can do to work again?

There is I need to see a consultant and so far I've been waiting 17 months. I don't think I'm a priority as I'm approaching retirement so the DWP can make my life a misery for couple of years or cut me some slack. I doubt I'll ever work commercially again but I'd like to think there's more to life than cricket threads!

It won't be much comfort, but I enjoy reading your posts.

We may have different political ideas but I don't like to see someone struggling

PM me, may have a Part Time role you can support me with if you are interested

I think that's a really interesting comment Dave.
Like him or not he didn't go to an establishment school like Boris or Dave so his career was based on talent and hard work.

My friends sister is ex CPS and met him several times. Said he was always calm, thoughtful and strong willed with also a strong belief - almost dogmatic. All sounds positive?

Well yes in a career, however in Politics you have to be basically a chameleon these days to survive. Maggie was very determined and strong willed. Ignore the populous to roll out her policies which made the rich richer and the middle classes rich. Fuck the poor basically and the unions. She survived thanks to The Falklands and then the 80s yuppie boom in the later election. It came to a horrible end when the gravy train ended and Major stepped in.

Starmer is suffering because of those ideals that served him well as a lawyer. He's no idiot, he just has too robust a belief system to connect all sides of Labour to stay on note. As for non Labour he's doomed. He believes immigration is an issue but a small one. He seems to be a true Blairite. Improve education and health and nothing else matters.

However social media has him by the balls. Whether it is X or FB telling everyone that nothing matters but immigration, or even GB News - he still hasn't grasped that rightly or wrongly this is the primary driver of Reform. All the woke stuff is peripheral- if I open X, 75% is anti immigration, or immigration fuelled rants about Blacks or Asians stealing, raping or getting benefits.

Open Bluesky and it's all about healthcare and Palestine (anti Israel) - however hardly anyone reads Bluesky!!

His own deputy is supposed to have said he couldn’t run a bath 😂 so can’t see how he can survive. At least he has the summer recess to reshuffle his top team but they hardly inspire. It will be interesting to watch

So a double U-turn on the island of strangers speech now.
No U-turns whatsoever.

If his audience is pro-migrant, he'll tell them that he is, if they're anti-migrant, that's also what he is.

He just can't help himself, he simply says whatever it is that he thinks his audience wants to hear.
