Smallest away followings

Living in Wat the time I remember when I was about 16 going to Cardiff away on the train. Sure it was a Tuesday night game we lost 2-1. Possibly 2002 ish? Anyway they announced the away attendance which was something like 118. Went on my own and it wasn’t a pleasant experience.

LDV vans quarter final away to Hereford I’m thinking 2004 maybe 200 away fans ish can’t think if we lost 1-0 possibly.

lowest away following I’ve seen at Bloomfield Road was when Colchester brought 26 I even remember counting their fans. Sure it was around Christmas probably 20 years ago.

Me & my brother made a spontaneous decision to go to Huddersfield's Leeds Road.
Tom White was stand in manager. Just remember being frozen to death on an open end with very few Pool supporters trying to find a bit of shelter.

There were just over 100 at the Pompey 92 game.

We've done this before and there has been lower.

I remember going to Bristol Rovers in the late 80s on a Tuesday night. It’s when they played in Bath. I lived in Wokingham at the time so it was just 70 miles or so.
I think we were in old Div 4. In any case doing poorly. I remember there being 5 in the away end.

Unless someone can deliver (genuinely) a 1 to 4 you must be the winner 53.
Do you keep in touch with the other four 😂

When I first started following Pool in 60’s it was a regular occurance to have just a handful of away fans particularly for a distant night game. There was no away end and travel was a hell of a treck. Away fans would often be separated so hard to count.

At home the likes of Aldershot with no sightings of away fans..
Colchester on a Friday night ( Alan Ball appointment) was another.

Colchester (H), 1983/4, I swear I remember only seeing what looked like a mother and son combo stood on the away end of the kop complete with a Col U, Union jack.

The worst I can remember at home was York. I don't know if it was an urban myth, but the story was they'd contacted us and asked if we'd agree to swapping the two fixtures round as we were going there in Autumn, and apparently they'd had "lots" of enquiries from their fans about wanting to see the Lights. So we agreed, they came to us first, brought 17.

The best story I've heard was from my friend in Manchester, who's Scottish work colleague supported East Fife. They were playing somewhere in the south of Scotland, can't recall where, and it was the closest they would come to him, so he decided to go. Got onto away end and he was the only one there, just him and a policeman. Come the big moment where the team runs out and claps the away following, instead they all came over and had a chat with him.

I vividly remember that Alfie. Night game, end of the season, we had a slim Promotion chance and won 3-2. There was seven Colchester fans, and the massive Union Jack.

Torquay at home the following season, the day we were celebrating going up I think there was literally only two or three Torquay fans on the Kop, then I think to allow a few late comers into the ground as the West and South was chocka block, there seemed to be a few Pool fans end up on there as well to swell the numbers a bit.

I remember a Gazette story in the Re-election year where there was only 14 on the Supporters coach to York for a Friday night game in 1983.

The least I've seen myself was probably either away at Lincoln in 1998, or Bristol City in about 2009, around 200 which by comparison to the ones above is an army !!

I think we will always have respectable away support nowadays compared to years ago, especially down south, ease of travel and also the fact that its maybe more common now for Blackpool born and breads to have moved away for work, family or university etc and they would turn up at their nearest game.

I did match programme report for the tuesday night away match at Northampton in about 1989 and as the match was so bad I physically counted those stood in the away end terracing and i think it was 89 (there may have been some in the seats but I couldn't see). re:Bristol Rovers at Twerton Park I think I went to all the matches there and don't remember any as few as 5 but if true I was one of them and you can guarantee Ozzie was another so we are missing 2 more ?

Did we sing your support is fuckin shit? 🙄

Once went to a friendly against Aberdeen at Pittodrie I think there were only three of us there! Unless we were standing at the wrong end! We drew 1-1.

I would love to be the only one there! Epic kudos to the guy. What a great feeling that must be.

Went to Wrexham away in the early 80's for LDV game...12 total...lowest I have seen...we played Chester later that season and took over a thousand despite there only being 15 mile difference in the trip

Lost 2 1 at Hereford. Remember it well.

Went to Barnsley on a Monday night for a televised game and there were 197 of us there.

Went to Lincoln for an LDV game on the night of a lunar eclipse which was more entertaining than the game. There were 51 of us there.

I remember us playing Hereford at bloomfield Road on a Tuesday night and I was stewarding in the away end and there was 14 Hereford fans

Went to watch pool in The sherpa van trophy at Doncaster on a Tuesday night and there couldn't have been more than 50 pool fans at belle Vue..... It tossed it down all night as well

Sheft U away circa 77. 5 Pool fans in the away end. Maybe 20 who got comps for the main stand. Won 5-1. 4 up after 20 mins.

For a local derby and the Oyston out campaign was in full force, Wigan away was a pretty low turn out.

Funny enough I actually went to this one (corporate freebie), I tried to upload a photo but the site is saying "file too large" Any one help on that?

I cant recall that many at Rushden and Diamonds a March evening match nor at the Goldstone ground another March mid week game when it poured and they let us into the South enclosure (about 50) from memory.
In more recent times a Saturday afternoon in Swansea (0-0) just 200 in one block behind the goal, one of our best seasons for a long time.

I’d have said away to Man Utd when they were presented with the 2nd Div Championship trophy on 26th April 1975. I counted 6 Pool fans.

Myself and my mate Lee attended Coventry Reserves v Blackpool Reserves one night in the 80's or early 90's. We both were wearing tangerine and after the match were in Lee's local country pub when Gordan Strachan (their then manager) along with a couple of other players/staff walked in and were querying our attendance calling us mad.

Hull away early 80’s there might have been more than you could see, but most kept quiet, as Blackpool ended up on the side of the pitch and were followed around the ground.

Back end of the 1981/82 season there were 14 on the supporters coach to Hereford and 12 the following week to Hartlepool.

Hartlepools away on a cold Friday night in 2004. Mike Sheron overhead kick stunner.

I don't think it really was one of the smallest away followings, I just want to show off about the fact I was there. Especially since I cannot claim to be one of the 10,000 behind the goal at Barnet...

Well I was at Rushden and Diamonds...was booked in a hotel in London but actually working in Stevenage for a couple of days trying to sort out some IT issues.Arranged a lift on the day( think via the old fans website) with a fellow Seasider who I had never met and to the best of my knowledge have never done so since( sincerely hope it wasn’t Cat...only joking).
Did however bump into a very old friend who had moved down to St.Albans area and someone who I had been to many a game with in our younger days.Meeting up with him was far better than the decidedly unentertaining 0 0...but at least we didn’t lose.He now lives in Southport.
Got back to my hotel around 130 in the morning...thought R&D was a lot closer than it actually was.

Forgot about that Rushden and Diamonds game. Agreed not many there and not much happened either

22 March 1965 evening game away at Man U. Two of us went by train met Two other Pool fans on the way. Didn't see any other Pool fans there.

Bristol Rovers at Twerton Park in 1988, night match, Tony Hodgson (who I occasionally see) and me on the away end (he had driven from Surrey and I was on the train from Oxford). That was it. I think there were a few in the stand who had scrounged tickets from the players bus. He gave me a lift to the station as his car was outside the away end and I got jumped a few times before the game and was not in the mood for another kicking. Herford in about 82, about 15 on the away end, managed to blag a lift back to Preston. Also a night match.

I see Hereford get a few mentions above. Does anyone on here remember playing them on a Saturday afternoon in the early to middle 80s, quite early in the season.

A Hereford fan came on the South Paddock, on his own. Not looking for anything, was proudly wearing his scarf and bobble hat. Good naturedly took all the banter that came his way, until we scored when one of ours kicked him as we all surged past. He demanded to know who'd done it and was removed at halftime for his own safety

Hi Cuthbert
See my post above, I thought there was 5 of us in the away end but might have been wrong. Remember taking you to the station

150 odd at Bournemouth on a Tuesday night. Won 3-1 I think
Was that the Tuesday after the LDV final against Southend?
I was on a course in the area at the time and drove straight from Cardiff after the game.

There was 100+ and we won 2-1 with a late goal from Murphy. Jorgensen was playing for Bournemouth at the time.

I went to the Brighton v Blackpool game in the 2006-07 season when we won 3-0. Away turnout was sparse as it was a Midday Sunday KO and I think engineering works on railway (hence minimal BASIL). Also, I think it was live on TV.
I reckon this kick started our form that led to the promotion push.

Was that the Parker game? Also a fan climbed up to turn the scoreboard off?

I've been to Bournemouth and there's been around 40 of us there. Mid 90s.

My one and only ever visit to Bournemouth was on Sep 6 1972,a Wednesday night League Cup tie a 0 0 draw. Was on a works course in London so took the train late afternoon( I think from Waterloo).
They were certainly not many of us there but no idea of the number.
The train back was what I believe they called “The Milk Train” as it was a late departure. It was well past 2 in the morning when I got back to the hotel. The things you do to follow BFC !
In fact thanks to work over the years I have been to grounds I might otherwise have never gone to ( like Rushden and Diamonds😀).

We eventually knocked them out after a second replay.

May be 5 but only remember the good ones. Hope you are OK. Took me about 4 months to recover after flying over the seats at Doncaster last season.

Open the pic and then press right buton on your mouse or pad and resize ,I find the best way of putting pics up is to open the little box in between the file link and smiley and drop the file in to it,hope his helps.

Traveled by car with 2 mates to Doncaster Rovers in the early 90s for an Autoglass trophy game. Must of only been a couple of hundred in the entire ground, game ended 2-2. Think there was only about a dozen from Blackpool in attendance.

Swindon away ,,night game in the 80s ,,,,Pool scored 5 or 6 ,,,about 12 pool fans ,,,I was based at Aldershot ,,,think I might have been at the Bristol Rovers game ,,,remember a night game ,,,I arrived late ,,,and was let in for free ,,,also remember the Colchester game , as I had seen them play at Aldershot the week before ,,,remember the lady and son from Aldershot and Pool games ,,they came up on the team coach ,,also the Bournemouth game after LDV final ,,,only missed two pool games at Bournemouth in the last 30 years ,,,
