You cannot categorically say that unless you believe everything that is printed in the Daily Telegraph.
There is a suggestion from Badenoch and her right-wing media cronies that Reeves has lied and broken the ministerial code, clearly this is part of a political strategy. Nothing has been proved or disproved, there may be an investigation, maybe not. I doubt that she will be fired over this. However, the last time that it was rumoured that Reeves was about to be fired, the markets reacted badly. This can have a very real effect on everyone, interest rates can be affected for instance by the sacking of a chancellor. Are you happy that these politicians and newspaper editors want to play fast and loose with the economy to score political points with potentially negative consequences for ordinary people? It's not a game, it has very real consequences.
There is always speculation around budgets, Reeves can and should learn something from this experience. In future don't brief, don't leak, keep your mouth shut and sack anyone who leaks sensitive information.
