That stage of the season where if you're not in the Top Six, one bad result can end your season.

  • Portsmouth v Bristol Rovers
  • Blackpool v Shrewsbury Town
  • Charlton Athletic v Peterborough United
  • Lincoln City v Hull City
  • Oxford United v Plymouth Argyle
  • Sunderland v Accrington Stanley
Obviously Oxford and Portsmouth are the two we need to look out for and can't really see them slipping up (but they might say the same about us).
If we can beat Shrewsbury and Hull beat Lincoln, that would pull them in to it and Posh will want to end the season asap against Charlton.
A weekend where really I can't see that much change and little will be resolved!

We need to REST starting 11 for 2 days, not one.
Need several changes.
Holmes for Simms
Husband in maybe rest or move Garbutt up.
Mitchell to start for either kaikai or Embleton.
Kai kai far too inconsistent & was awful last night.
Gabriel to start maybe on right wing?
Maybe Turton an extra midfielder ?? 🤔
Options despite our injuries?

Oh & if we are rubbish in first half, USE SUBS AT HT!

Plymouth must be hurting after the mauling by Charlton.
Remember how Accy reacted against us.
Bristol Rovers are down.
Shrewsbury need one more win for safety.

I can see all 3 of us winning.
Charlton and Lincoln look unpredictable results.

Appleton quickly made changes when they were losing. We should have done the same last night. There was little to lose once we fell behind.

I agree & think we may need to use Husband, Ekpiteta, Gabriel, Thornley, Mitchell, Robson & Holmes a bit of a risk I suppose, but they all should be fresher. In that we've got a back 4 that has worked in the past, how he slots the others in I'd leave to Critch.

glad you're not the manager

Now is not the time for wholesale changes, especially given the fixtures those below us have. We pick our strongest, fittest 11. The only changes I can see would be Gabriel and Mitchell in for Turton and Embleton.

My predictions :

  • Portsmouth v Bristol Rovers Home Win nailed on
  • Blackpool v Shrewsbury Town No idea - depends what side of bed we get out of - they are at best, average but have beaten us !
  • Charlton Athletic v Peterborough United Draw probably - Away win woulf be better ! Charlton have to win
  • Lincoln City v Hull City - Same as Charlton
  • Oxford United v Plymouth Argyle Home Win nailed on
  • Sunderland v Accrington Stanley Home Win nailed on

We've had a great season but we will fall short and miss out on the play offs.

Need to go back to the 4-2-3-1 formation last time the 4-4-2 didn't work give Simms a rest and get Kaikai closer to Yates because he isn't a left winger.

I suspect we will probably have around 65% possession in our own half. If Sully and Embo don’t turn up as they didn’t on Tuesday then I feel it’s going to be another long tiring game for Yates. With nothing to come off the bench in an attacking sense I’m expecting the same team as Tuesday and playing for 0-0 but hoping to nick something. #UTMP🍊🧡

Talk about negative!
We need 2 wins ( maybe less) from the remaining 5 games.
Three games at home against teams who have hardly anything to play for.
We are 3 points clear with at least one game in hand.

If we don’t make the Play Offs as it stands then it will be a bitter blow to everyone connected to the team.

Agree with your changes. Holmes on the bench but all of the others straight in.

True but are you expecting every team to take maximum points.
Pompey fans will be laughing their heads off and Charlton have a very tough run in.

74 points will probably be enough.
74 points will almost definitely be enough, its crazy how that works - if you go back and look at previous league tables its almost always 74 points that secures 6th place.

Oxford are pretty much out the race as the maximum they can achieve by winning all their fixtures is 74.
Pompey can reach 77 but that means winning 4 on the bounce which won't happen with their form, they play Accy twice then two teams who are fighting for survival, which as we saw against Rochdale, is no easy task.

6 more points basically secures the play-offs for us. A win against Doncaster could see us secure the play-offs mathematically as its our 2nd to last game, and our game in hand on Pompey - we could pick up as little as 4 points from our next three and 3 points there could be enough as long as Pompey don't go on an immense run (which I doubt they will).

We could really do with a win against Shrewsbury just to settle the nerves a bit 😅

I think 74 will do it too. Maybe even 73 at a push. I think we will either win comfortably or have a messy draw.

We never do it the easy way but I can't see us letting it slip. Fancy Lincoln or Sunderland to win the play offs tho.

Pompey v Brizzle Rovers - last chance for Brizzle to get a win or they're relegated. Might make our game against them one of the dullest ever if we have got to the Play Offs by then.

I've said it before. You keep going with your strongest 11 until a play off squad is secured.
However I would swap Turts for Gabriel, Mitchell for Embleton and Hubby for Garbs.

We need to be vastly more creative moving forward than we have shown in the last two and a half matches to get to the playoffs and to do well in them.
