So whats everyone been binge watching during lockdown

Homeland is a slow burner as you get to know more about the plot and sub-plots. Definitely worth sticking with.
Dont get me wrong, loved Homeland, but as with all these things, why do the stars of any show not wait for back up but go into obviously dangerous situations completely alone? Half the time they dont even ring it in, never mind wait..

I'm interested in Italian TV and stuff and can recommend a couple of really watchable box sets.
The Mafia only kills in summer - on all4, this is really, really good, it's like the wonder years but set in Palermo in the 80s. It depicts a typical Italian family and is told from the perspective of a young boy. It shows how the mafia influence and corruption effect their daily lives, and all the terrible events depicted really happened. However it is also really uplifting, it's very well done.
1992, 1993, 1994 are on Sky or Now They are three separate series but all in the set). This is a political drama about the corruption scandal in the early 90's known as Tantopoli (or bribesville). The plot has multiple threads, following the investigation, the rise of nationalism (the northern league), how Berlisconi got into power and exposes corruption and nepotism in high places. It's a bit like an Italian house of cards or something. Really enjoyed it, binge watched it in January - there are about 30 episodes.

I'm about 5 episodes into zero zero zero. You have to suspend belief a bit but it is entertaining. Almost like a world cup for gangsters, so far there has been Calabrian Italians the 'Ndrangheta, Mexicans, various Africans, I'm just up to the part where Moroccans get involved. Don't mess with Mexican drug cartels. Ruthless!!!

Just in the middle of Queen of the South on Netflix which is pretty good.

Watched Bad Blood on Netflix. Really enjoyed this but a shame there are only 2 series.

Currently rewatching Game of Thrones - definitely gets better 3rd time round!

Been watching daft stuff, my wife had never watched Friends so have watched most of them again. Recently “discovered” Superstore which is pretty good. Hoping to persuade her to give Cheers and Frasier a go and above all, Seinfeld!

Still Game - mentioned above - is just fantastic

Enjoying a bit of “routine” viewing of a weekday evening when its North West Tonight, Channel 4 News then either George Clarke on 4 or the best programme on telly - The Repair Shop, just made for a winter Wednesday Evening.
still game courting is one of my favourite episodes pint o guiness

Black Sails.
A great mix of fact and fiction.
Blackbeard, Anne Bonney, Charles Vane mixed in with Long John Silver and Captain Flint.
Set before Treasure Island.

Spooks, Designated Survivor (Netflix) and a very funny sitcom set in Glasgow called Still Game (on Netflix) first shown in 1982 on BBC Scotland. Fortunately my father was Glaswegian so l can understand 95% 🤣🤣🤣

Edit to add: The Crown and A Place in the Sun ☀️
One of my favourite ever comedies that one. Lots of laugh out loud moments. Ugly girlfriend is perhaps my favourite episode. Also watched Burnistoun which was sketch based but had some clever stuff in it

Always called that munter girlfriend episode. Brilliantly done,
And the munter makes a number of appearance absolutely hilarious. The one liners are brilliant reminds me very much of Phoenix Nights. The episode where Winston was about to eat cat food and the following one liner from Victor had me in tears of laughter!😂

Downfall of the EU currently showing on AVFTT. It's got a few Z list celebrities trying to defend the firm as it slowly crumbles. 😉
Homeland first series is unbeatable for me.

Winston kicking his falsy leg out of the windae and seeing the local scrotes filling their pockets with all his dosh

I've just watched sopranos for the 1st time which is brilliant. Can't beat breaking bad and boardwalk empire. Ozark is excellent and Vikings, The Expanse and power are well worth a watch. All of mixture of prime and Netflix. Queens Gambit also very good.
Have you tried The Sinner and Mindhunter Shandy? If you like Breaking Bad and Ozark, I'm pretty sure you'll like them.

Just started on that. Still on season 1 with 7 seasons in total. That should keep me busy to the end of lockdown at least.

Also watched 2 seasons of “Marseille” with Gerard Depardieu on Netflix. Subtitles but you’ll find you’re almost fluent in French by the end.

Its good, but Claire Danes lower lip trembling becomes a bit tedious.

Night Stalker was good and Vanishing from the Hotel Cecil has been recommended both crime documentaries. My wife woke up listening for noises in the night “and me”
I lied. 😴

I'm being made to watch that pottery series hosted by some irritating Irishwoman and featuring a big shapeless bloke who bursts into tears whenever anyone throws a good one. Utterly baffling! 😗

That’s because you don’t have a sensitive bone in your body 😢 😢 😭

Homeland is the best series I have seen out of all so far, the fact it was consistently good for all 7 seasons shows how great the writing was.

We watched it as it aired and used to say that’s ridiculous, only for it to happen in real months later. It is edge of your seat stuff, impossible to guess what happens and more jaw to the floor moments than anything else I’ve seen. It is fantastic and I envy anyone just starting the journey.

Counterpart is another great series but I watched it on Starz so not sure if it is available on any other streaming services.

The Queens Gambit was ace, I loved the kookiness and real homage to horror, American Horror Story and I absolutely love American Gods.

If you want a really laugh out loud comedy then go on YouTube and watch the 3 seasons of Operation Good Guys, the most true to realty cop show ever made. It’s filmed like a documentary but it isn’t and it is outrageously funny.

Loads of other good stuff out there too. I hardly ever watch a movie anymore.

Question Time and Good Morning Britain interviews with MP’s and spin doctors, plus Andrew Neil show is exceptional.

Love Black Sails. Swashbuckling stuff. Fiction using real pirates as the characters.

Just watched News of The World. Enjoyed it, and really like Tom Hanks films as a rule.
Don’t know if anyone has alteady posted about this already, but if you like Westerns I can recommend Godless on Netflix.
It’s a bit of a gruelling watch, but IMO well worth sticking with.
Only about seven episodes instead of the usual 60 or so as well (unless they make another 10 seasons or so anyway!).

Generally agree about Homeland. 1st series best thing I've ever watched on tv. The German and Afghan series were brilliant too. Oneof the series didn't float my boat too much though. 3rd one I think it was.
Finished watching all of Spooks a couple of weeks back too. About 70 episodes. Loved that too.

Thanks to whoever recommended Designated Survivor.
It's ace.
Just watched the 1st 5 mins of Designated Survivor, & a going to see how it goes, looks promising, don't want 2 series on the go, as I've got back into Billions, series 3, so got another 3 series to go, got a bit bored beginning series 3 a few months back, so left it, glad I persevered...
Big fan of Gold Rush, but that's a documentary, on series 11 now.. As light relief, I quite enjoy 2 broke girls, & watch one when I've half an hour to spare... Series 3 of 6

Black Books!! How the hell have I missed this all these years?

Put it on as I thought it was a new series and see it's over 20 years old. Completely bonkers but hilarious!
One of my all time favourite comedies. Great characters n clever daftness

I've recently revisited Goodnight Sweetheart. Hand on heart, the best thing Lyndhurst has done. If you're a fan of the movie 'Yesterday', then you will LOVE this.
Yep, I loved Goodnight Sweetheart when it came out. Great concept. Have watched them all a second time too.
Anyway watched a film called The Debt last night which I think is new on Netflix. Very good film. Helen Mirren stars.

Always good to see Mirren in action. And at your age she could provide a useful pickmeup ahead of some 'special time' with Mrs 20's. 👍
