So whats the plan

Whats the plan is to increase our fanbase?

Its something i thought may have been asked tp the board at the very structured dialogue meeting, probably a bit more important for the long term future of our club than vegan sausage rolls ..

We have around 8k season ticket holders which is ok ish on the face of it but our ground holds 16k so we have a guaranteed 50% occupancy

So not that great really when you think of it and given there is a plan to give away fans the East stand we could have a situation where away fans have around a third of our entire capacity

Be like Man Utd giving away fans 25k for league games

Not exactly fortress Bloomfield if we start giving away fans around 5k tickets

Price obviously isn't part of the plan when you consider season ticket prices have gone up considerably as well as the match day price hike

And i haven't seen any sort of match bundle or any incentives for people to buy home tickets yet

We haven't even sold out in the family stand, so what's the plan for the future Blackpool fans?

Given we have had years of anti fan measures by the Oystons and we've probably lost generations of local fans i would have thought building up our core support would be high up on the agenda

It appears not ...

I suspect that the current uncertainty around COVID and ground entry will have put off a good number. The club stated no refunds, which I agree with, but there is a big risk for those who find the financial ask a stretch. I expect fans who have not been able to buy a season ticket, for whatever reason, will buy select match day tickets.

Fill it by all means, but for travelling and financial reasons I have to be picky and choosy when I can attend ( Especially as my kids will want to go now ).

I don’t want to be in amongst the 50 - 150 or so locked outside on a regular basis 😔

I think selling 4 or 5 game tickets might be a decent idea. If they were priced well, ie £85 for 5 games with an option of upgrading to a season ticket (full price - £85). That way the club get a boost in early sales and hopefully some get hooked and upgrade to a full season ticket.

As the season progresses they might well start to have packages. To do now though would stop potential ST sales. Everyone seems a bit tentative atm - we might see a surge in interest in a few months when people are more comfortable about covid.

Bit negative, that's not like you.

Anyway, do well on the pitch, that's it really, it's going very well so far. No fuckers signing up to anything if we're shit.

I doubt if we are going to allocate 5000 tickets to away fans any time soon. I think the police will have a view on that and given the current Covid situation it makes sense to see how things go in the first 5 or 6 home games and take things from there. There is always the Quid a Kid type incentives to sell tickets for the Family Stand if the need arises.

It's a good question so make sure you submit it either through BST or the SLO for the next meeting.
Alternatively you could e-mail a Board member now. I'm certain you will get a response.

Football fans can be a fickle lot so if the football is dire or languishing at the bottom especially in winter they'll stop going so we need at the very least to consolidate Championship football for next season and then build on from that.

Atmosphere it's what grabs you as a youngster so seeing as the North is 90% sold out the quicker they get the away fans next to them the better.

Training facilities need building and used for all kids in the area, amount of parents I talk to who take their kids to Poolfoot and Fylde when they should be in the town and some will inevitiveley come on board.

I know we're in the whole a more mature lot on here but the negativity needs to be toned down at times about the club be positive and those who may pop into this site or you talk to may say I'll come for the ride.

Obviously winning games brings fans in and losing games makes it much harder for a match by match fan to justify the expense. That's the basics- at least for now.

It's too late for this season to get the board to think beyond the typical (failing) pricing structure that all clubs seem to have, but it should be addressed for next season so that more fans commit.

Just on the revenue side early bird prices should be optional. Many committed fans are not price bothered and only buy early to keep their seat.

Yeah thats a good point

Maybe the people who want to pay more should just errrr pay more or just buy additional tickets than they don't need

By nice for them to then prove to us mere mortals what they have done so they can then pick up their uber super fan badge ...

A family match day ticket would be a good idea, 2 adults and 2 children maybe save 20% on a group ticket?, I know at the prices for match day tickets this could work out without a discount at £80 at least!!
A pretty expensive treat for the family.
I bought 4 season tickets which I couldn’t really afford, but I certainly couldn’t afford £80 every home game.
A group discount always goes down well.

Muckers said 10k I think. Here we are in the Championship- if that’s not enough to get people back in I’m not sure dropping the ST by £5 per game will make a difference?

if 8k is our ST fan base for those who are local or can then all we can do is attract the kids of the future.

I’m guessing that Simon and his inner circle, being absolute divs without any experience of building businesses, are probably royally screwing this up.
If only there was some way that they would listen to proper knowledgeable football guys on AVFTT, the world would be our oyster.

That question was asked at the structured dialogue meeting Phil.

I tried it when Dirty were last in the PL and even had season tickets at BR under Hendry, allowing Plumbs jnr to start with his local club.
Ruined by being challenged on the terraces by some high profile Blackpool fans ,and also the guy who slagged off Wembley bound Seasiders as 'tourists'.

Trying to do the same with the grandson but won't be giving anything up at ER, especially with BST trying to rule the roost.

Would love to see the local club enjoy some tangible success, but to be honest there's an element still around who are in in for themselves.

Good OP who asks the probing questions and previously has had his input curtailed by one of the self serving clique I've already mentioned.

what was the reply?
Q: What are the Club’s initiatives for growing the fanbase?
A: We really do need to build the fanbase as much as we can both here in the UK and abroad. Membership offerings are something that are under consideration and hopefully we will make some further announcements once we hear more from the EFL. A Loyalty Scheme is also something we may consider in time. We have sorted out a proper online shop from what we had before and upgraded our Ticketmaster offering and also brought in a CRM system through Sports Alliance. We feel we are heading in the right direction, but we have to move at a sensible pace.

Feels like going up has accelerated some changes that we really could have done with more time to build…namely crowd momentum building at lower cost to the fans. The plan now is to get enough money in to make it half palatable to the fans and the business accounts to support us staying up. It’s clear the club don’t want to subsidise full houses of BFC fans even for the first season back. Covid losses have kaiboshed that I think.

To be honest i actually think the SLO is completely out of touch and a bit of a waste of space

BST slightly less so but i still think the survey they did was counter productive

Good post and well done for replying. I've lots of time for folk who treat others fairly, respectfully and equitably and you've demonstrated that in leaps and bounds as you've grown into the job.
Can't say that about BST especially their secretary but its good to see things ticking along nicely.

Away season tickets- a great thing to do and encourages the club on its travels. If you want some support then I've contact details for you

Build a club we can all be proud of playing good football and being successful on the pitch is the plan, going well so far. UTMP

Sorry but that response from the fanbase question is pretty shit

Did anybody push them on the ticket prices or the East stand away fans question

All very nicely nice that

Very non committal....

Few things that would have helped

- A young person season ticket price
- An affordable family package for match days
- Cheaper match day prices
- A complete freeze on all season ticket prices from last season
- A monthly payment scheme
- A part season ticket
- Ticket bundles for non season ticket holders
- Subsidised friendly games with a season ticket
- All child tickets the same price as the family stand

Just a few from the top of my head

Ticket prices no(we only had ST prices before the meeting) East Stand yes but I was the only one. Some of my response was left out of the minutes after asking if we would leave 2500 empty seats when an away team doesn't fill East Stand(south). They just don't feel the demand from home fans will be there and I said it would be, although at those matchday prices I think a fair few might be put off. Having 5000 baggies or stoke in the East will nullify our home advantage as it will all be lads pissed up. The atmosphere we create is fantastic but we aren't gonna compete with a full stand or 30% of our capacity and all down the whole length of the pitch. We should have let us have the chance to fill the East stand(north) and if we couldn't then give it to away fans. If you don't try you'll never know.

Yep bang on that mate

So frustrating

We may have a scenario where Posh only bring 1000 and we have 2500 empty seats in the east on top of the 660 in the SE corner that we can't sell because it's an access point for away fans. I'd give them East stand south and SE corner(approx 3000 seats) and give us East Stand(north) which is the only way we can have a full house. On the other hand I can also see their POV with the amount of money they've spent on damage from the previous cunts as well as money being pumped into the training ground and the youth team facilities at Rigby Road and I think that's why we are seeing these higher friendly prices as well as higher matchday prices. For me, if you want to see how poor/rich the locals of Blackpool are just visit Dickson Rd/Lytham Road/Central Drive, are people living around there going to pay £30 for a match....not a chance. I still think we'll average 12,000+ but it could be so much better.

Baffles me that they brushed off the flexi ticket suggestion. From memory and knowledge, it works and did work very well in the past. Makes no sense why they won’t introduce this for the coming season.

lack of home capacity so they don't need to as there will only be approx 2500 home tickets available

I suppose it is made harder with COVID adding uncertainty, I can understand the caution. And nobody ever got rich by relying on the Blackpool public to turn up in big numbers.

I don't begrudge SS making a few quid back on his investment by cashing in on clubs like Stoke, WBA, Forest etc. either. But I do think the three categories is hard to justify and the top price is too much.

The OP should have read the Structured Dialogue minutes really, most of what he wanted to know had already been covered, weeks ago.

Surely you’d rather sell those 2500 tickets at say an average of £20 for 4/5/6 games than not sell them at all for £25+?

Also, to Phil’s point about the fan survey.. what was the point? I don’t recall seeing the results of this nor do I think the club paid any attention to it. Yes, I expected prices to increase with promotion but I think we’ve limited ourselves to who can attend. It’s mentioned time and time again that we are a deprived town.

To be clear, I renewed my season ticket before people start questioning.

The BST survey: what was the point? To get opinions from as wide a base of fans as possible (and not just BST members). The results were made public. The club definitely reviewed the survey and took its contents into consideration.
