Some dangerous signs emerging

Conceding late goals to lose games.
Individual mistakes costing us dearly.
Creating chances but not converting them.

All things that are regularly seen at clubs who get relegated. Whoever we get as the new manager has a lot of work to do and there’s a nagging fear in my mind that the major problem is a squad of players that simply aren’t good enough.

I think you can add to that SATW, scoring early on in a game and then not capitalising on it simply fading. I just hope that we have a big enough cushion of points to see us safely through this season.

Fortunately there’s a huge gap to the bottom 3 so there’s very little chance of getting relegated this season, but the issues we’re seeing need resolving quickly in order to provide some level of confidence and positivity for next season.

I think we looked much-improved yesterday. Even in the second half with ten men, we looked as though we had a clear and concise plan of how to manage the game, which is more than what could be said of us under Grayson, despite not getting the result.

They may be dangerous signs but there is no real danger. Well, nothing like a sign that says “The Owen Oyston Finishing School for Girls” at any rate!

We can't blame luck for the performances but we feel blessed that unfortunately, other clubs have had it rough as well. Just worries me the squad isn't going anywhere next season either. A good manager and some assured signings over summer required. It's just a shame after everything we've been through that this is the first 'step' in backing Blackpool, doesn't really feel like progress on the pitch at all. We'd be looking at relegation any other season than this, and that is the problem.

However, the future remains bright and tangerine

For me the major concern is we’ve totally revamped the squad and we look a much weaker side and one that is displaying all the signs of relegation fodder. Either we’re unlucky or something is badly wrong behind the scenes and we’ve recruited on a very poor budget and it’s showing.

It will be interesting to see how things change/progress under a new manager....Something isn't right and I'm not sure I'd blame the players.

I dont think the revamp has weakened the squad.
Moore, DH, Ronan, Madine and arguably a fit Bola playing in his correct position, are far better than what we had before.
They need time to gel under a manager who has a clear plan. Being sent out as part of a muddled mess would have a detrimental effect on most players, never mind a squad half full of individuals who had never met 2 weeks ago.

The danger sign that I see is our recruitment processes. Grayson recruited in five minutes. We soon realise he's suffering from PSTD. Post Sunderland Traumatic Disorder. We recruit a load of players ad hoc style and then sack the boss. Then we line up the first out of work manager that springs to mind. If Jones gets appointed in this way it tells us that they don't know how to run a recruitment process, in my opinion. There is no rush. The job is an attractive one. Take your time, go through all the options, identify the most suitable person. It'll take longer than a couple of days.

Fortunately I think the bottom three haven't done enough and we have - but does add an edge to the Bolton and Tranmere games and actually makes me relieved they were both called off under Grayson.
