Sorry, I don't like Nathan Jones

Can't warm to the man at all. Seems to be one of those who blames everyone around him. Brother in Law is a big Stoke fan and we had lots of chats during his time in charge there and he said he was a sulker. Blamed everyone and everything bar some of his poor decisions, choices and tactics. Sorry - not for me.

Is he entertainingly sulky ala Macca or just plain old sulky?

I really didn't think I was going to like Macca but I did.

Just get behind whoever takes over FFS and judge them on style of play and results.
Not some anti Welsh nonsense or a mate down the pub told me nonsense.
Hardly anyone gave Ollie a chance.

He might not like you

How many good managers does a club like Stoke have to go through before the people there realise it is something other than the manager that is the problem? I'm afraid until Stoke understand that, they will continue to struggle.

Nathan Jones was highly successful in his previous managerial role, one that he left not long ago at all. He played good positive football and would be everything that Grayson wasn't. Success is never guaranteed but I think he'd be a good choice.

What I don't get is the need to bring in a former player. It has absolutely no bearing on how successful a manager will be.

Karl... Today Steve rendered his resignation blah blah

*Steve appears* (can I have a minute)

Karl returns... Today Steve withdrew his resignation....

The McMahon days were good. League Two, hammered at Barnet, Oystons in full flow, but enjoyable. Football is a meaningless charade, as TD53 just said elsewhere, and the enjoyability factor hits at unexpected times, in unexpected ways.

I proper loved that side. It had a core of players and Macca always wheeling and dealing looking for the missing bit. Sometimes signing outright crap, sometimes decent players. Never predictable and I honestly think that for flashes we were outrageously good considering the shoestring we operated on.

What was remarkable really was that Karl didn't give a shit and McMahon just took the job to get out from under his wife's feet. There's your recipe for a happy football club with entertaining football.

One of my mates is a big Stoke fan. General gist is that they would tend to play very well, easy on the eye with good passing and movement, but crap defensively and just couldn’t notch any points up. It isn’t as though O’Neill has walked in and worked wonders, has had to turn them into a boring yet solid defensive side to attempt to avoid relegation. Think it was a bit of a suicide job to be honest, a lot of deeper issues at Stoke within the squad. Personally see this as a good move, Jones has a lot of passion and a brilliant record whilst at Luton.

That's made me feel a bit better.

Seriously folks read the oatcake thread on Jones at Stoke. Scare the living daylights out of you. Don’t want him anywhere near Bloomfield Road

Yeesh. They really don't like him.

Seems like it'd be a boom-or-bust type appointment. He'd shake things up and it'd go one way or the other. His experience at Stoke should help him.

Thought he came over as a bit of a tw@t during the play offs. He wouldn't be my choice but then again, I don't own the club. I can't see past Evatt tbh but that's properly misplaced emotional loyalty.

I think it's because of his really irritating Welsh voice and a face you would quite like to punch.
His body language, his mannerisms and just his general demeanour are not appealing.
That said, I thought Ollie was an absolute 🔔🔚 but was happy for him tone our manager.

170 games as Luton boss.

51% win ratio. That will do for me.

Stoke was a car crash club. Klopp or Pep wouldnt have pulled Stoke around.
