Stargate Chippy

Never really liked the chips at the cottage. For me chips should be fluffy on inside but theirs always seemed hard. I do like Yorkshire fisheries in town though
 
A simple business, fish and chip shop yet so many get it wrong. I over heard the fryer is knackered at the cottage,maybe why its poor. For me I would buy fresh fish and decent spuds and you shouldnt go far wrong. Whelens in Lytham was poor last time I went,plus they had ignorant arrogant staff serving. Locally Devi rd fisheries and middle chippy are ok,spuds vary but fish is usually ok. Not been but heard Derby Supper bar is ok.

Another one who hasn't a clue it's frozen and then defrosted this ain't no gourmet restaurant charging 25 quid+ for a dish.

I actually have a sorce for what chippys sell the fish is bloody good if cooked correctly and the oil is good.

Yes Whelans is poor. Used to be good but gone downhill and the bloke who does the frying is a right miserable sod. Micky Hughes on St Andrews St Annes is good.

If they dont sell fresh fish then they are poor,do em in dripping.
 
One shit chippy being taken over by another shite chippy that dines out on the fact it was decent 20 years ago.
 
Harrowside chippy for me. Not tried bentleys which I’ve heard is good.

Whelans has been always been shit, last time it was any good it was called The Dolphin.
 
Ah The Dolphin. Great memories. Remember being a nipper and going in with my nan. Lady behind the counter saw me, ripped a piece of newspaper, wrapped it around the bottom of a hot chip and handed it down to me. I thought I was in heaven. Remember my nan muttering as we left the shop that the stingy bugger has taken it off her pile. Memories 😃
