Starting 11 v Reading

Just hope at some point this season we have a settled 11 rather than all the changes we saw last season every game

Grimshaw
Connoly
Marv
Williams
Garbutt
Virtue
Fiorini
Carey
Bowler
Madine
Anderson

With the 5 subs allowed I fully expect Thompson, Yates, Moore, Apter and Dougall to get some minutes too.

I don’t think we’ll settle on an XI but I do expect 18-20 players to play a similar amount of minutes over the course of the season as opposed to what must have been about 30 players under Critchley

Grimshaw

Connolly Ekpiteta Williams Thompson

Dougall
Fiorini Carey

Bowler Madine Anderson

Very attacking and highlights our lack of holding midfield options (right back hinders this too).

Based on pre season form, fitness and the fact that some positions are a problem so we need to take a bit of a gamble

Grimshaw
Connolly Ekpiteta Keogh Thompson
Dougall
Carey Fiorini
Bowler Yates Lubala

Grimshaw
Moore Ekpeteta Williams Thompson
Conolly/Dougall if fit
Virtue Fiorini
Bowler Yates Anderson

Apter to get 20 minutes from the wing if we need a result.
Carey to replace Virtue

Lavery and Garbutt should be nowhere near on current form.

Grimshaw
Moore, Ekpiteta, Williams, Thompson
Virtue, Connolly, Fiorini
Bowler, Yates, Lubala

Carey, Apter, Lavery, Anderson, Madine amongst the subs available to come on.

Grimshaw

Connolly
Ekpiteta
Williams / Keogh - depending on the latter's fitness
Thompson

Fiorini
Dougall
Carey

Keshi
Bowler
Madine
This but I would go for Jerry on the left. Keshi needs to improve, Jerry the much more busy and effective player ATM.

What I want not want it will be in a 4411 assuming RK is not fit

Grimshaw

Connolly Ekpiteta Thorniley Thompson

Bowler Dougall Fiorini Apter

Carey

Yates

I haven't a clue what our preferred formation is it really 4-3-3? Also no real idea about either full back so my team is a bit vague.

Grimmy
Erm - Eks- Wills- Err
Bowler - Dougal - Fiorini - Keshi - Carey
Jez/Mads (Probably Jez)

Best I can guess.

Grimshaw

Connolly Ekpiteta Williams Thompson

Dougall
Fiorini Carey

Bowler Madine Anderson

Very attacking and highlights our lack of holding midfield options (right back hinders this too).
Interesting how many have said we can't play with both Fiorini and Casey.

Something like, depending on fitness...

Grimshaw
Moore Ekpiteta Keogh Thompson
Fiorini Connolly Carey
Bowler Yates Lubala

Then can make a big attacking change

With 5 of these Anderson, CJ, Dale, Virtue, Lavery or of course could bring Dougall on, freshen up in another area and still make 3 attacking subs. Forgot Madine who is still useful and can be used too.

Might be too soon for Moore if so Connolly fills in and Dougall replaces.

If Thompson can fill in at RB then you could move Connolly into centre mid, although I still think we're a bit short there.
Yeh I agree, although Garbutt at left back petrifies me. No idea what’s happened to him since he signed permanently.

Connolly is brilliant in a holding role but he’ll be used as a stop gap at right back IMO.

Garbutt was always permanent - think he was on a short-term deal initially. He's never been a great defender. Can't understand why he's suddenly catching all this hate when he hasn't changed really, other than stepping up a level and yet more injuries.

Anyway judging from the signing of Thompson I get the impression Appleton doesn't fancy him and a loan move to League 1 before the deadline wouldn't surprise me.

Missed a lot of last season with injuries and never really had the chance to settle.
