Starting to get embarrassing

All these transfer sagas. Back and forth with Brannagan last season. Lyons starting to look more and more unlikely and now this with Bishop.

I don't know who is doing the negotiating but I wouldn't be best pleased if I was Sadler. The club will start to get a bad reputation when it comes to negotiating transfers.

Not only that, we need players and need them sooner rather than later. We have 2 players in who are both only loans. It's all getting a bit last minute and doesn't look good.

A lot can be said for getting your business done early. Just stop pissing about. Identify our targets and get the business done!

Bore off.

The club didn’t announce that a fee had been agreed with Accy, it came through the press. Anything could of happened, we don’t know and as the club has said nothing on the matter (rightfully so) they don’t need to comment on it further.

People take too much notice of journalists.

Why do some of our supporters think that deals falling through is unique to us? It happens at every major club, the difference is now with social media etc we all get to hear about it. No point losing any sleep over it, the club will do what they see best. Maybe some are still scarred form the Oyscum era. Now that WAS embarrassing.
Yep, it's not embarrassing, it's how a professional club should conduct it's business as opposed to signing Nile ** Ranger.

I really don't understand why people are panicking. We have a squad that stayed up comfortably in the Championship last season, and we haven't lost anyone of any real significance (other than Sterling). We've signed two highly rated players on season long loans and are allegedly in the market for several other players.

In the scheme of the Championship, we are a small club and don't have the resources to compete financially with some of the other clubs in this division, which means that any deals we do complete need to be shrewd and constitute value in the long term for the club. It may also be the case that we need to move players along to finance deals, which could explain why the Bishop deal has fallen through. It may also be the case that the club has identified another target who is available and better than Bishop.

People need to relax and have faith in the same board who got us promoted to the championship and kept us up comfortably last season, until we have a genuine reason not to do that.

But people want us to spend millions, while complaining about the price of tickets.

That was under Critchley with a promotion bounce. Be stupid to under-estimate the task in hand this season which I don't believe we're equipped for at the moment.

How can you say that before a ball has even been kicked? We stayed up comfortably last season - we obviously had a bad patch at the end of the season including the embarrassing defeat to Peterborough, but Critchley was tinkering with the team and we were long mathematically safe. What makes you think that we're not well equipped enough to stay up again?

Whatever the reason, the media report puts us in a bad light, I’m sure the club will want to rectify that and make a statement when they’re ready. I hope so anyway.

Embarrassing was under previous owners, such as players turning up for training without any boots available. A whole raft of 'A Triallists' playing in a warm up game with two weeks until the season started. Embarrassing was letting our better players go on frees, or them having to sue the club for bonuses. Embarrassing was getting in players that no one else would touch.

Embarrassing really isn't the word for the club today. Chill out, don't get worked up about things out of your control and trust the club.

We offered £300k for Charlie Kirk prior to Critchley going: Charlton said "no!". We moved on. It's the way it works.
As for Bishop. What if he failed his medical??

I don't think promotion bounce is an actual thing if you look at the record of teams promoted to the Championship, Posh and Hull last season for example.

Absolutely none of this is embarrassing in any way - cancelling Bishop so late means there was either a problem with the medical or we've identified that a better target is now available for us.

We clearly have a large amount of fans who are part of the yellow mattress brigade and get their knickers in a twist at the drop of a hat.

Also, a lot of injuries last year, if players like Gabriel, Carey, Garbutt etc had been available more often we could well have finished higher.

We should all start panicking, I’m Led to believe a fee was agreed but Bishop was unhappy with his wages being paid from Sadlers change jar that he’d brought in so turned us down.

I see it...I see it......I'm ITK......The club are waiting until it's Friday as they get another 10% off all strikers with a coupon.......
Apologies for using the same GIF twice....but I heard from an impeccable source, who I cant name, but they told me it's OK to use a GIF on 2 different threads....but I stand to be corrected, just repeating what I was told

Agree there are some ignorant ones on this site some still not happy we now go about business in a professional manner for the good of the club. Don't forget where the club has been and where we are it isn't going to happen over night.

Please refer to your AVFTT Handbook Page 94 Section 3 - The Use Of Gifs

It clearly states that 'the same GIF may not be used twice on any thread within a 24hr period'

Expect a warning from the mods.

The reactionaries on this board are unreal.

We make a last minute bid for 500k for a very good striker, have the bid accepted and terms agreed, he comes in for a medical and then we decide against the move. Dramatic? yes. Embarrassing? No.

The club are doing their due diligence, what if they saw something in the medical that was concerning? If that were the case then not signing him is the correct thing to do.

Striker is a position we have a good amount of depth in, strengthening there isn't a priority, but if quality is there we should go for it, if it's not then no need.

I'm not remotely embarrassed. I feel sorry for the lad, but if it's a medical issue I would rather let him down than sign a crock.

The club keeps it cards close to its chest in negotiations. I dont think the press get much of a look in. Quite right too as soon as the press get involved speculation drives the price up.

In relation to Colby Bishop clearly going off what Danny Cowley stated we were in for him. How far it went was and is utter speculation.

A lot can be said for getting your business done early. Just stop pissing about. Identify our targets and get the business done!
Reductive and simplistic appraisal of complex negotiations involving people and money; never simple.

You can only get your business done early if the players in question are made available. As for negotiating transfers I would suggest our club has a pretty good reputation these days…
