Steve 'Fat Head' Evans Predictions ..

Steve Evans says it's his Gills side who will claim the third and final promotion place to the Championship at the end of term – if his troops manage to grab one of four play-off places.
It’s an assertion based on his belief that the Kent outfit have the ‘best squad for cup-tie football’ in the division.
Gillingham currently sit ninth in the table on 54 points – two points off sixth spot, which is currently occupied by Blackpool.
They are among half-a-dozen clubs who are just one win away from breaking into the top six as an exciting run-in to the season begins.

Evans believes the four teams currently in the play-off positions are all destined for end-of-season heartache if his side book a top-six finish.
He told KentOnline: ‘If we can sneak into those play-offs then we will be in the Championship next year and that is the test, the test is if we are good enough to get in there.
‘If we do then it’s cup-tie football and I have the best squad for cup-tie football sitting in our dressing room.

‘Last summer, when the season finished (early), I had a lot of managers in that top group saying to me we would get in there because we were in tremendous form.
‘But we are actually in better form this year with a better squad, better players.’
Gillingham have suffered just one defeat since February 27 – a run that has seen them beat promotion contenders Ipswich and Lincoln and claim a draw against Doncaster.
They return to action on Saturday with a trip to league leaders Hull.

Absolute shite hawk of a bloke, but you have to admire his confidence

Team from a footballing vacuum with a shit ground and no fans....the Championship would be much improved by them I’m sure...

mixed feelings about what he's said.
Admire him for his confidence in his team so why shouldn't he say what he has. But then again, the way he's said it stinks of arrogance and as some have said it just adds to the pressure put on his players. And no doubt there will rightly be plenty of people who will enjoy ramming the words down his throat if it all hopefully goes tits up.

Why does he think he has 'the best squad for cup-tie football' in this division? They lost 2-3 at home to Exeter in the second round of the FA cup, they lost 1-0 away to Stoke in the third round of the League cup and they lost 2-0 away to Cambridge in the second round of the EFL trophy. Hardly a great performance in cup competitions this season.
Because he is deluded and his words will come back to haunt him immediately, starting tomorrow

If Gillingham win all their remaining games they can only reach 81 points. You would think they need to win at least 6 of their last 9 games with a couple of draws to get in the top 6. Can't see that happening myself.

Likes the sound of his own voice and usually doesn’t get interrupted or argued with.........because no rational football fans bother to listen. And that includes many “Gills” fans.

One thing's for sure, we'll be hearing the gobby crook tomorrow unless the ref is strong enough to shut him up. Our defeat to Gillingham rankles more than any other this season for me - all down to my dislike for this man.

He lost loads of weight whilst at Leeds I remember, he's certainly put it all back on since then - the Gillingham job must not be as stressful!
