Still don't get the 'bringing players in'

From the Ben Mansford interview, it sounds like Grayson was purely sacked on the fact that he wasn't reaching their required points total. Not much mention of the football we were playing, all the players he'd brought in, bringing Dunn in, the fact we'd won the previous game etc etc

Seems a strange process having brought all those players in that he wasn't given more time. The season had gone and in effect it was a chance to see what he could do with the new players and so seems strange he went on a points target failure. I could understand fan protests, rubbish football etc but the reason for his departure seems a bit strange. If you allow a manager to bring 12 players in, surely you have to wipe the slate clean and start again?

Larry my understanding is that the club decided and brought the players in we got in January not SG but l stand to be corrected.

He must have known the writing was on the wall then although that goes against what Grayson was saying about 'his name and contacts' helped bring these players in.

I don't think I am keen on players being brought in by people other than the manager. To me the manager looks for and aquires players who he thinks will fit and improve the team/squad. If players are being sourced by someone else at the club it surely undermines the manager? These players wont have been what the manager wanted therefore he is playing catch up learning about them before getting best out of them if at all?

Is it even concrete that SG had very little to do with the transfers in Jan?

I do think I would rather the manager and his team sourced the players in future if it is true that SG didn't or plans are for the new manager not to.

Maybe partly why Jones has been reluctant?

I suspect that the two Loan Deals (Connor Ronan & Dewsbury-Hall) were down to Larry as he was keen to emphasise it and rightly so, because they were standout signings that will have a huge influence on performances.

It does seem that the board may have taken control of bringing players in, which probably explains why it seemed to lack the kind of targeted approach you’d expect from a competent manager.
