Congratulations to Blackpool! Great club with a big history. Did you ever get rid of the Oyston weirdos?
"
Glen Adair replied:
It is all well and good knocking The Saviour, but without Owen Oyston the club would have become extinct.

Not sticking up for the scum at all but Andy couldn’t have bought the club when Owen did cos he was only about 14 😂😂😂

There were other interested parties at the time.
The council thought he was the best option as his Estate agents were flourishing at this time

He only bought it for a £1, but took on the debt, because he wanted a property deal. A supermarket was in his radar.

Obviously not at particular time ,the point was they are two that have been interested during the time he had the Club ,how many more were there ?

And all those times he banged on about the stadium he built… just omitted to mention grants, VB and other such trifling funding oddities…

There is absolutely no way you can re-write the history of where a rapist and his criminally convicted son acted in such a heinous manner that an entire region of the country would rather give up their major passion than go anywhere near them.

No matter how you spin doctor this, it will take generations for anyone with the surname Oyston not to be assumed to be a thieving scumbag.

Any future offspring will carry that stigma for a long long time. If a CV came into you with the surname Oyston, what would be your honest initial reaction?

He took on 40k debt but just let it ride on the accounts while claiming to be a lifelong fan (though no one of that age can ever remember seeing him at a match), note how the land and the club were two separate companies.

He then pretty much ran the club at cost while sitting on the real estate, he tried to offload the real estate for the profit when moving the club to Whyndyke and his super stadium, land he owned that he presumably would have charged the club for while financing the rest through loans and grants secured through the club and rent for the shopping complex that was also part of the plan. He then raped a 16 year old which put a stop to all that.

The club was then obviously ran at cost until the PL windfall (funded by Belokon) and the rest is common knowledge.

He never saved anything, he never spent any of his own money, he bought attractive real estate for a pound, the council were idiots.

As a contrast Simon Sadler bought the club with his own money, has invested his own money (the accepted thinking is it needed £10 million just to get it up to League One standard) and has given the manager everything he has asked for, has got us promoted at the first attempt and already has plans for the Championship in place, while also actually being a true fan, one of our own.
