I know some rated him but he was very inconsistent.
He did not even warrant a place on the bench at Wembley for Wycombe, so very much the right decision to get rid last year.
Unfortunately CJ is similar

He's a quality player who needs to be played in the correct system for a team who like to play football hence why he's not really had a chance with Wycombe

Second most goal involvements in our squad when we got promoted 🙌
In all honest though him and Yates were our only two attacking outlets for about 3/4 of that season.

So you could say he came second in a two horse race.

He was ok, probably a decent league one player no more no less.

I am pretty sure that some Pool fans would still like him back, but the reason he does not get game time is inconsistency. We always remember fondly the magic moments like the goal at Sunderland, but in how many games was he invisible
He only looks inconsistent as he's always played out of position

Play him as a 10 or as a wide attacker and he will shine

He certainly isn't a wing back or a wide midfield player running up and down the line all game

On his day magnificent. However hes played for a lot of managers. It cant just be they are all playing him in the wrong position.

I'm interested that he now seems to be a fringe player at Wycombe, which suggests he isn't progressing much. Perhaps the quality of coaching isn't what he's used to. :)

I'm with Phil. Can't say I've followed his career closely since, but if he's being asked to play as a wingback it's as much use as me joining the Bolshoi.

Very talented, great moments, but I suspect lacks confidence, doesn't impose himself very often. Modern coaches want players who are switched on and dynamic and fulfil specific instructions etc. Shame cos on song he's great to watch and very effective in those moments.

TD53 incoming in 5…4…3…2…1
🤣

Sullay has played 750 mins of football this year for Wycombe. That equates to 8.3 full games.

In that time he has scored twice and made six assists.

Add to this the fact at least one of his games he started at right back and you've got a seriously impressive set of stats.

He's made more assists in that limited time than anyone in our squad and is essentially averaging a goal involvement every 90 minutes, which is way in excess of any of our players.

I'd love to see the working out that says "yeah, we're definitely better off without a player who sets up and scores regularly"

Yep bang on great stats 👏

But you've got to ask would he have maintained that ratio playing 90 mins each game?
I don't know the answer but the fact remains he doesn't seem to be convincing his manager that he can.
That's why he's an enigma.

And yet an enigma who was productive under Grayson, productive under Critchley despite played out of position and productive under Ainsworth despite being played all over the place, put in and out the team and the team overall not obviously suiting his style.

I'd say less enigma, more obviously a decent player.

I would say a quality player who many managers and fans don't know what to do with

If you want someone to run up and down for 90 mins he isn't your man, best go for David Perkins type of player

If you want a player with great feet and control who can create things from nothing then Kaikai is the man

Played correctly he's a match winner

100%

The myth that Kaikai didn't regularly win us games is weird as hell. He was vital to us last year (stats bear that out) and up till Christmas when we were on the charge with Larry, he was the key player. We fell off a cliff when he got injured.

Come on Phillipo we have moved on since Kai kai and Nathan Delfoneso...they couldnt hack it league one most weeks so why do you think they could do a job in the Championship?...We have upgraded and improved in virtually every position and things are much better. Time to embrace it and concentrate on the manager's undoubted tactical faux pas. A good recruitment in this window and we can improve again and hopefully win the NW mini league in front of Burnleh, T'rovers. knob end and wiggin

Don't get me wrong, I was always an admirer of Sullay and his skills.
I know for a factamundo there was no falling out at Blackpool when he left so it was just a case, presumably, that he didn't fit into Critch's plans.
We do get a bit clingy on here with some of our former players.
No problem remembering them but Sullay is now just another player that we enjoyed and has gone.
Don't forget to vote for him in your "20s" Hall of Fame though. 😃

Was surprised when he was released, but the more you thought about it the more it made sense.

He wouldn't help us progress to the next level, as an upper Championship side, so replace him with better, which we did.
We seem to have lacked creativity to be honest.

His contribution can't be denied. I never understood why Chisnall used to slag him off on Tangerine TV. A lot of people seemed to share the same views. I wonder if people where maybe influenced by his opinions during lockdown. He seems to have it in for CJ these days haha.

Virtue has had a year long injury nightmare, Happy to bet he plays in a lot more than equivalent of 8 games next season
Maybe he will but I doubt he will be at his best in them all. He seems to get injured not longer after he finds his form. Its a shame, if he wasn't injury prone he would be great.

I am amazed how many people rate virtue as the answer… he was bang average in league one and it’s unlikely he will be tearing up the championship.. I would loan him out and sell him if anyone wants him
Critch obviously disagrees though. I was surprised he got a contract extension while out injured for ages, but Critch must believe in him.
