Summer transfer rumours deux, the 'Appy edition.

It's league of Ireland, they're not paying the players £100,000+ per year and no player is going to have a £500,000 release on a £20,000 salary.
wow, don't be so literal. maybe i should have said 'no more than 500'.

it's perfectly reasonable that a LOI player would have a release clause in the low hundreds i.e. less than 500. at least we know it's more than 100. 🙂

Agreed, can't imagine the release clause being more than 150,000 to 200,000, if the club want this player and we aren't able to agree a fee, I'd seriously start to worry.

What worries me is that the club don't know what the release clause is, which logically they should, which tells me that in this case there perhaps isn't one.
🤣 Classic AVFTT... What release clause is that exactly???

@eatmygoal's mate says there will probably be a low release clause because a release clause is "quite common for league of Ireland players apparently" and now it's AVFTT fact.

And as for lowballing... I don't think bidding for a player is simple - they don't have price tags. The club bidding might have an idea of what the player is worth but it's like walking in to a car dealership where the cars have no sticker price and having to guess what the dealer wants. Do you go as high as posibble at first? Of course not. Some dealers are skint so will accept a lower offer. Some know the car is a bag of dicks so will offload for cheap. Some know the car is a bag of dicks but will try and rip the customer off. Some think the car is better than it is... blah blah etc. etc.

Any chance of you starting a new thread on this subject? This 2nd one has now become another epic at 17 pages and we still haven't had any incomings. A new thread may bring some good fortune to us AVFTT'ers 🍊 🧡

There are some very funny posts about incomings on a couple of threads, without anyone criticising posters for not appreciating how lucky we are etc. They're brilliant to read an no one can say that BFC fans have no sense of humour 🧡 🤣🤣

Surely the club had other transfers lined up in the same ilk as the ones last season... how can we be getting outbid for those types of players when we got them at decent prices last year? We had also signed a fair few for free as well... what's happening?

Maybe the club thinks the players we've got already will improve enough compared to last season to not warrant any signings... I'm not too sure 😕

Pop over to the DCFC forum, the administration thread there has passed 2,400 pages.

besides, the only clause i believe in is groucho marx's 'sanity clause'.
Yes classic comedy but it was Chico that said it. Groucho was explaining a contract he wanted Chico to sign and Chico didn't like all the clauses so he kept ripping them out but Groucho said he had to keep the last clause in the Sanity Clause that's when Chico in Italian accent said he didn't believe in SC. Brilliant. Good job Karl didn't have to sign a Sanity Clause!!!

A Night at the Opera, absolute classic.

A Night at the Opera, absolute classic.
Little story half related, allegedly when Freddie Mercury came up with using "A Night at the Opera" and "A Day at the Races" as album titles, he wrote to Groucho Marx asking him if he'd mind. Apparently the aging Goucho wrote back saying he'd be delighted, and would Queen like to borrow the name of his upcoming movie, "Greatest Hits of the Rolling Stones"... hope its true.

Think it bodes well that we're already in negotiations over personal terms with the player, Shamrock Rovers will feel a ton of pressure to sell.
you'd hope so. also, rovers have just earned 1.4m euros from UEFA, so they may not be hard-balling over the fee either.

all hypothetical of course, but it's been a substantial vacuum to fill. :)
