Summer transfer rumours deux, the 'Appy edition.

No.I expected LR to be appointed (like everyone else)I did find out that Appleton was offered the job and would be announced Friday …. Three days before it happened. I also told you all that it wouldn’t be Michael Duff. We are at an advanced stage with several signings and that’s an absolute fact.
You didn't expect - you stated a fact two weeks ago: 'Just waiting on the announcement. Bringing experienced number 2 with him.'

And three days earlier you dismissed the Appleton speculation: 'I genuinely don’t think this is true whatsoever'

You are a class A bluffer

To be fair though it did appear as though LR was nailed on before something happened and then all of a sudden he was out.

Let’s say he agreed a deal in principle with the club and then after a chat with Rooney (who possibly said he was going to leave, opening the door for him being the main man at a club/location where his family are settled) - then all of a sudden he’s gone from being nailed on to out of the running.

I don’t know if he is ITK or not, but I think his comments do hold some weight - nobody would have predicted Appleton at that time, certainly would risk their fake credibility as a pretend ITK on a unlikely punt

The only reason that LR appeared to be nailed on was because the punters (probably Derby fans) saw the collapse of the Kirchner takeover, knew that LR was in the running for the job, put 2 + 2 together and ended up with 22, which drove down the bookies odds, which suckered in the likes of Nixon and other fake ITKers in to pronouncing he was going to get the job.

The reality was that the club were always going to do 2 rounds of interviews, the above happened before the second round had even started, as far as we know LR was never offered the job, and all talk of "speaking to Rooney" or LR turning us down because of budget/training ground is the fake ITKers trying to dig their way out of the hole they'd dug themselves in to.

Anyone who said LR was nailed on before the second round started, didn't even understand how the club was handling the process, and by definition was not ITK.

He said it definitely wasn't Appleton on the 15th, he predicted Appleton on the 16th after the Gazette had strongly hinted at it and others had called it.

This is hilarious.

This is how I imagine you looking realising you’re struggling to dig out of that ‘ITK’ hole you’re in.

Got t to hand it to you though there’s a few people still thinking you’re ITK. 😂.

Using my own ITK contact, I have told myself to tell you that it'll be a big week coming up, we'll have signings, ST news and more. 😯

Using my super duper top notch contacts I can assure you three certainties:

We will sign someone in July with the day ending in a Y
Our new home kit will be tangerine and white
Another home friendly to be announce against a team that play football with 11 players and 7 subs

I know I'm being picky but Eky and Ballard (edit) are both righties. We do look a lot mkre comfortable moving the ball forward out of defense with a leftie at LCB. That's partly why Thorniley looks more composed on the ball when he plays.
It barely matters, at all.

Tyler was an u/16 last season although he played regularly in the 2nd half of the season at LB for the u/18s and I'm pretty sure he played against Chelsea.
This story will be to do with him signing on as a "scholar".
Clubs can't offer professional contracts to players in England until they are 17. (16 in Scotland which possibly contributed to us losing Tony Weston to Rangers along with Gerrard factor then).

Surely you keep Bowler another year rather than sell for 1 mill
You are so correct. To sell Bowler for one million would make no sense at all! Surely it would be worth it to keep him for one more season, even if he was to leave for free at the end of it. Ideally we offer him a new acceptable contract with a buy out clause if he so wishes.
After all we got over one million for the manager!

But he is left sided and we only have Thorniley as a specialist for that position!
I don't think you necessarily have to have a left footed player as the left sided centre back. I would
rather Keogh played in that position over Thorniley with Ekpiteta as the right sided CB. Van Dyke at
Liverpool plays on the left side and he's right footed.

We have been linked with Jerome Opoku 6'5" left footed C/B or L/B suggest you
watch his performances in Denmark last season ?

We need better than Keogh, hasnt got the legs anymore. Probably a sound bloke to have around the changing room but he's past it now.

All in the trainers. Either he has colour changing trainers or maybe there's someone else.....
That's a good spot. 👍
I'd hazard a guess it could be another youth team player signing a scholarship, Johnson Opawale, who was also an u/16 last season who played for the u/18s?
The u/18s are back in training today so we might be getting a bit of news on this seasons squad this week.
Just guesswork not ITK.

The point I was making to Hodder is that you need the best defender in there be he right footed or left footed. Of the players
currently available ,Keogh would be my pick for LCB.

I agree it’s not essential, what I would say is some right footed players are comfortable at LCB and some very much aren’t. If I recall, Ballard often did play left side for us and looked good (I may be mistaken as my memory is questionable since we had kids, I remember more about Ian Gore than Ballard 🤣). I will be surprised if we have any chance of getting him sadly (Ballard, I reckon we could afford Ian Gore)…

Ballard was far better as a RCB and I've never understood using a player to less of his ability by playing him out of position. In fact I think it was Wimbledon away where Ballard got sent off for being totally shown up playing LCB.

Odd, buy the key to a right sided defender playing LCB is whether he can kick with his left or not and not the defending as such.

Not sure I agree. Looked like he still had it last season in the Championship. Has never in his career relied on pace and that won’t change now. Also Appleton prefers a deeper line of engagement when defending and teams typically have to beat them aerially or get shots off from distance. Such a tactical approach will suit Keogh even more.

I don't think he would of looked half as good without Marv alongside him personally.

I think they complement each other. Keogh’s very good at organising the defence and keeping things calm. If I have one complaint with Marvin it is probably a slight lack of concentration and therefore being guilty for some big mistakes. Keogh can and I think did help with that.

I am amazed at the number of professional footballers who need the commentator to excuse their feeble effort by stating it's all right he hit the corner flag it was his weaker foot.
I’m just as amazed at the number of goalkeepers, including ours, who seem to find it impossible to kick the ball upfield without it going into touch. The only reason I can think of is they wear square boots.😁

The worst one I can remember for that was Lee Jones, sure the players just set up to defend a throw in every time we had a goal kick 😅

I don’t remember them moments. I just remember Marv getting player of the season for being outstanding.

Marv got Keogh out of trouble so many times last season making last ditch tackle's on the left hand side of our box.
Very surprised Everybody seemed to have missed it.
That's accurate. His first touch occasionally lets him down, but he's stilldeveloping and I honestly belive that our new coaches will improve him and other players 🧡

This is how bereft we are of transfer talk on a transfer rumours thread. Talk of our existing players and their best positions. All I know is, that in our promotion season, we got all our business done early!

The first signing was Anderson, announced 29 June, and we were still signing players into October (Dougall), a lot more players came in that summer as well.

We're probably looking at 4 - 6 new players this summer, major surgery is not requiredThe
The season starts much earlier this time out. I still maintain that for a transfer rumours thread, talk on here is anything but!
