Summer transfer rumours deux, the 'Appy edition.

I’m assuming a mid season break for the Qatar World Cup. That’ll help us greatly along with the 5 subs as we have a few players that are good at this level but suffer injury breakdown when playing week in week out

So we get Kev fit. We have 5 subs to allow him to come off at 70 mins and then mid season there’s a nice lay off for him to recovery or get back from his latest injury.

It is looking more and more like funds are low and before we see any incomings sales will have to be made. I have never known such a quiet close season as this. Even Fleetwood have made 5 signings.

Simon has continually said the funds are going to be there, and that it’s going to be more than previous years - we need to calm down, the new man has only come in a few days ago

You must have an incredibly short memory (or be about 12). Did you not notice we had a change of manager, too?

Very little happening in the division, the off free transfer.

We do not have a new manager, we have a head coach, who trains and coaches the players brought into the club. Whilst he may have some input, Stevenson and Co. working in the background identify players and do background checks. Many of the players will have been identified whilst Critchley was still here and Appleton had not even been thought about!
When I was 12 all clubs had managers, who picked their own players and even carried out negotiations, so if you describe Appleton as a manager you are living in the past and quite obviously you are not 12. or anything like it!

Sorry how long has Appleton been in post? Do you seriously believe that the new Head Coach will have no input to the process? Players may have been identified, but Appleton will have his own ideas as well which will now be in the mix. Have some patience!

If you carefully read my reply you will not see me say that Appleton has no input in player selection, but others do too! Those others will have made their minds up weeks ago, because even before Critchley left they were aware which areas of the side needed strengthening!

We have a very settled squad, only 2 first team players have left, and they barely played last season, the need for new players is limited and depends upon moving other players on.

My best guess is we'll see 4 - 5 players coming in over the window, and much of that is going to depend upon who goes out.

Wasn’t too long ago we only had 5 players at this stage - pre season games wondering who the fook A Trialist was

Whilst on a more happy & positive note - we haven't sold any of our star players .... Josh, Grimmy/Max, Marv (hands off Critchbitch) or number 1 star of the fans Jordan (hands of Kompany) AND Jerry has his mojo back, so he won't be going anywhere 🧡 🍊
MA will know who he wants to recruit & that will happen soon.

Appleton will have the final say in which players Pool sign and then it is down to John Stephenson to negotiate with the Clubs and agents to get the deals over the line. Appleton will have his own list of targets and he will be talking to Stephenson on a regular basis. The days of only signing players with a Crewe Alex connection are gone forever.

Still 2 months of the transfer window left, lots will happen in the months of July & August especially regarding free agents whose contracts end on 30th June.

Take those orange tinted glasses off and you will see a lot clearer.
We could have signed Courtois and they’d still argue he’s shite, past it, etc.

And of course we’re skint but yet their manager has left because there is no money to spend. They couldn’t even persuade the assistant manager of a club in administration to manage them! 🤦🏻‍♂️

You on a wind up (have you actually seen the vid that is on u tube) ?if not watch it and see for yourself ,would not fill me with confidence if i was a knobber but then again thankfully i am not (as Dewster said )its tangerine (stop being a wum ) or go back to your own site oops meant shite 🤣 .

The fact you still believe we are skint is absolutely ** hilarious. No wonder most on this board think you lot down the road are total goons.

Instead of being a sad troll why don't you go on your own club's forum? Or is it so uninspiring you are forced to look elsewhere?

How often have we seen different managers/coaches bring different things out of different players?

What we were looking for pre Appleton is not neccesarily how he will see it for himself.

We also have 2 returning players to factor into the equation in Carey and Virtue and we aren't handing out Pro Contracts to youth by the bucket load to not utilise them in some capacity .If they are good enough they are old enough.

I'm not saying we don't need to strengthen but the numbers involved this time around should be far far smaller if what we have in place at the club as regards structure and development is on track and aligned.

That may just mean waiting a little longer to spend a bit more on less plus higher echelon loans.

Another nobber with nothing better to do than sit and here and try tell us how good their new signing is.

They really do live a boring life don’t they, bet their internet history is monitored and won’t be long until they’re caught in a sting, mongs.

Deals will have been offered, players holding back till 30th, I suspect we are waiting on a couple to decide on best offer.
Appleton will come up with 2/3 Premier loans Rogers & Forini would be nice. Then Bowler situation may have to be resolved.
We all have to wait and see. 😎

Just noted this ona thread from Jonny:
There could be some mileage in this one & does it mean Josh or CJ are on their way out?
New Blackpool manager Michael Appleton is eyeing up a raid on his former club Lincoln City for forward Anthony Scully, sources have exclusively told Football League World.

I’d hope that any replacement for Josh would have better pedigree than this.
Pedigree is meaningless. Mentality is key. Sarkic had a better pedigree than most players to ever grace the BR pitch... (Benfica, Anderlecht, Leeds etc) now he plays in Kazakhstan after not cutting it in League 1. Malauray Martin of Monaco, Gerardo Bruna of Real Madrid and Liverpool, Tyreece John Jules of Arsenal and Ben Woodburn of Liverpool and Wales national team… all players of pedigree. Now look at Marvin Ekpiketa, Sonny Carey and in recent years Gary Taylor Fletcher and Alex Baptiste… none of these have anything like the pedigree of the players at the top but they’re all twice the player when they have a ball at their feet.

I know I'm pessimistic but it worries me when I read about various Lincoln City players that we are allegedly interested in. Lincoln City finished 17th in division one last season. That's how good these players are.

I hope our new manager has got more ideas about players to try and bring in than just looking at his previous club.

A lot more.

Welcome to the board, you'll fit in nicely with all the other worriers on here.
It won't just be Lincoln players coming in, chill

What Fester said 👍

Lincoln will have one or two players capable of moving up a level and developing. A poster on their forum said it wouldn't be surprising if Appleton came after Scully. And another lad, Regan Poole. Who is a right back.

Last season Lincoln couldn't replace Brennan and Rogers, Bridcutt was out from December onwards and Montsma was out from early January onwards. Jorge Grant played Championship last season. So did Tayo Edun, after leaving Lincoln last summer.

Appleton seems pretty adept at finding young players to sign and to loan.

Scully was signed from West Ham. Dropped 2 divisions to get games.
