Summer Transfer Rumours trois - Will Appy (re)sign anyone?

There’s no tribunal fee. We get nothing.
I realise it only applies to players under 24 (Bowler's d.o.b is 05.03.1999) but I'm not sure if that applies literally to the players age when his contract expires or some date in the season similar to the cut off dates for say u21s in the squad ie for this season u21 means u21 on 01.01.2022.

It's his age when his contract expires, there is no tribunal fee.

At the end of the day, if it allows us to get 2/3 quality players in who improve the side then thats surely
the best outcome. We all have our favourite players we admire most, Bowler will leave and another will
come in. For me its become more apparent the market place for signing quality players is tougher.

If Bowler stays until the end of the season and he hasn't signed a new contract by then we will know exactly where we are.
I'm pretty sure the tribunal fee won't be significant.
I'd take £3m now for him from a PL club but would be disappointed if he went to another Championship club.
£5m might persuade me to let T'Rovers have him.
Agree , and as some rude people have pointed out to me lol ,he won’t sign as he dosnt want to , so if that’s true , cash in on him
but let’s hope the funds do get use on the team thou

EFL Regulation 71.1:

A Player aged 24 years or over as at 30 June is entitled (subject to Regulation 43 to sign for any Club of his choice without restriction on the expiry of his contract on or after that date without payment of any Compensation Fee.

Its been reported Todd Kane the Coventry City Right Back/Left Back has been left out of the
Coventry team to face Portsmouth today in a friendly. The reason given there is interest
from another club. He is 5'11" 28yrs. 😀

No thanks, allegedly a bad influence in the dressing room at Chelsea, QPR and Coventry. Has had a lot of clubs.

We're definitely a selling club, we've just not been very good at it so far to the tune of zero big sales. They can't get anything going and if incomings are reliant on outgoings there's no wonder its stagnated this summer.

Stuck in a circle of having a squad under contract but all performing at a similar level so nobody is standing out yet due to Critchley's approach, the never ending injuries and not being in league one now.

There's only Bowler because of his natural ability. And so of course he's the one on the shortest deal and every day he's still here he's now costing the club money because he can walk away at the end of his option and the other clubs know this.

On the Man City example above they are a selling club but they can easily palm those off they've finished with like Sterling to balance the books because of the Guardiola factor in making him look better than he is.
City loaned their tea boy to us 🤔

"It's going to be a big week in the transfer market leading up to the Reading game. Andy Lyons news is a blow, but I gather alternatives are already being worked upon. Club hopeful of two signings this week (we've heard that before, I know...)"

So, this new practice of agreeing terms with a player and then calling the deal off for one reason or another. Enhancing our reputation isn’t it? Players will shy away from us once they hear we’re interested. Absolute shambles.

Rinse and repeat, echoes of the past.
Only it's been dropped from close to 3 or 4.

How many deals have we called off
1,failed,a medical and given the sicknotes we have signed I would suggest we are prudent to be rigorous
2 Called off by the selling club due to injury situation

Maybe a short term loan for Seamus?

1 - he’s been playing for over 15 years with an injury incurred when he was small and scored goals throughout his career.
2 - an offer of an additional £200k (when we received over £1m for Critchley’s), would probably have secured the player.

You go on thinking everything’s alright.

I'm beginning to get annoyed with it now, all we hear is hopefully soon from rumour sources and then hear a different way it's broken down or just hear nothing and no one arrives. We hear nothing from the club, but we know they are trying, but its clearly not working. When we did hear it was hopefully in before Scotland, then nothing happened, hopefully during, then nothing happened.

It's really disappointing to follow the transfer news.

It wouldn't be as bad if we had all available players fit, but we never do, they just drop like flies.

We always seem to find a way to cope and sometimes thrive through injuries, but ffs its getting silly and we don't have a fit RB whos played at any sort of level before.

2 loans in, which is good, but can't seem to complete a permanent deal.

I understand having a budget and not being taken for fools etc, but players have a price.

Big week and even then they won't have had enough time to bed in and familiarise themselves with us.

Shite summer so far.

A few things seem a bit weird at the club recently. Certainly with transfers. Last summer I felt we had a good window, with a fair amount of decent additions. For me it was January where things felt a little off as we weren't able to strengthen the midfield (and the Brannagan saga). It was slightly disappointing but we were able to get through the season well enough. The manager situation was a strange one as well. Obviously a new manager in may have stalled transfer business but surely the club would have had a good amount of targets prepared. We've supposedly been close to new faces multiple times now and only brought in 2 loans, and it took quite a while just to get those lads in. A very frustrating window so far. I guess we'll see what happens this coming week and hope the squad is ready for Reading.

Qualified doctor are we? However trivial it might appear there's a judgement call here. The Club would have taken medical advice before making the decision.

The same medical advice that every one of his other clubs have taken or have we got Reggie Perrin’s doctor?

Thanks I will
What are the insurance implications of buying a player who failed a medical.
Very easy to spend someone else's money for Lyons Shamrock would have quadrupled their return in 1 year.
I think 200k was a fair price with add ons and believe a deal was close.
Think Lyons may well join us for a similar amount when Shamrock have got over their injury situation.

I agree Tangy, I think the door’s still open for a move - I guess it depends on whether we sign anyone else this week. I just find it confusing that we are the only club amongst all those that Bishop has played for that feel the need to send him away when all the others are happy to take him on, with the same medical evidence.

The story originally was that Bishop chose Portsmouth over us, who's to say that isn't true?
