Swindon Town v Blackpool Official Matchday Thread 02.04.21

4312 - Ward on the right and Kai Kai on the left with Embleton playing at the top of the midfield diamond. Embleton able to switch with Kai Kai and Ward able to switch with Embleton when needs be. Looks solid and attack minded.

Feel optimistic today. A little surprised Mitchell not starting, maybe part of his rotation plans. Away form to continue with a 1 - 2 win.

I'm happy with that team -- lots of attacking potential there. I hope Kaikai doesn't spend too much time hugging the left wing. He's better, as we've seen, getting into the middle taking shots and making his incisive passes.

It may well be Critchley is picking horses for courses and wants Gabriel and Mitchell fresh for Gillingham. All games are important obviously but Monday's game is a biggie given the current table.

Embleton will have an enforced rest for two games soon, so it makes sense to rest others like Mitchell who will have to play in those two games against Sunderland. For that reason, we also need to keep Simms match fit too.

I like the look of that, players need a rest and Mitchell has shown he is more than good enough to hold down a first team place going forward so lets hope he signs an extended contract.

It's a two-fixture selection. One of Gabriel or Turton won't start on Monday and now Simms is unlikely to. Am a bit surprised Embleton starts instead of Robson particularly if it's a straight 4 across the middle. I see Lee Camp is in goal for them. I didn't realise he was still playing. Fond memories of a certain evening a while back.

Some shocking passing going on here - although the Swindon commentators said the pitch has been poor.

The pitch seems credibly hard and bouncy. Ball control will be difficult and the long balls to the front two will race away.
