Tactical evolution

A couple of interesting articles today about how City have evolved and how Liverpool and English football have influenced Guardiola. How a tactical hybrid has emerged. As well as how Pep has massively influenced English football....

Watching Barcelona just after he took over was probably the best football I'd seen since Brazil in 70 (Holland 74?). Not only did they attack in numbers, defend in numbers, but they attacked the oppo's defenders in numbers never giving them any time.

He must have learnt so much from Johan Cruyff who was not only a truly great player he became a truly great coach who started the Ajax and Barcelona training methods,

Put the ball in the onion bag and stop the opposition from doing the same to you. That's all the tactics you need.😜⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽️( sourced from the leaflet How To Win Lots Of Football Games by Joe Smith circa 1953.)

It would be interesting to see how he would do at a club where he doesnt have financial access to the best players in the world. Most teams have two or three world class players, Barca, munich and citeh have / had at a conservative estimate 8 to ten world class players to call upon, with the rest being what might be referred to a upper level internationals.

what could he do with Leister city or something similar

If Critch was at City with all their dosh he'd probably win the PL 😃
It's much more difficult being a manager at a club where the finances are tight & your players are recruited from divisions below you or on freebies.
We have a top manager who is still improving and what's more, he's a genuinely good guy.

Totally. Take Messi out of that Barca team and they'd probably have been the La Liga version of us pre Calderwood. 🤠

So he's won titles with Barca, Bayern and City. He's done a great job at City obviously, and redefined football in this country, yet those three clubs should all be winning titles with the advantages they have.
