Tariff free trade with the EU....more Boris Bollocks

Another Grauniad scare story. They really need to take advice before publishing these. Purchases made direct from EU suppliers are normally at an agreed price and that should be the total price to pay. Any attempt by the supplier to charge more is illegal. The supplier can't add VAT and duty and admin charges on top unless he specifically states at the time of sale that the agreed price is ex-works, free on board or similar. Just send the stuff back or refuse to pay. End of story. If in doubt, buyers need to confirm the price is delivered, tax and duty paid.

Glad you all find it so amusing. You might want to speak to the following people to see whether they find it equally hilarious.

David Howson, president of Cboe Europe one of London’s biggest exchanges who watched 6bn euros of EU share dealing shifted away from the City to facilities in European capitals.

Or Dani Loughran managing director of Aston Chemicals in Aylesbury who, after more than 30 years of exporting to the European cosmetics industry, has found that Johnson’s red tape has rendered the trade uneconomic. The company has just made its last shipment.

Or Brexit voting Ian Parkes in Brixham who, after 40 years in the trade, is now contemplating the collapse of his fish and shellfish exporting business, again thanks to the non tariff barriers agreed by Johnson. He regrets ever voting Leave.

No doubt they all find the situation rib tickling as well.

Cracking outcome guys. But I suppose you can always blame it on the French.

It's Macron deliberately being awkward and inventing charges.

Next time I have a delivery I'll just say that Tango says it's illegal. I'm sure they'll waive the costs.

Perhaps they should take advice from a “specialist” company? You know, one that charges exorbitant fees to clients to help them process Johnson’s red tape? Must be coining it in at the moment.

Do you know of any you could recommend?

Don't blame the French at all just that tw*t Macron he’s the real culprit in all this he’s never accepted the vote we took to leave and now he's trying to play payback.

Well stuff him. 🐸

I was just wondering Jack. If you're at a loose end could you give me a hand when I'm advising clients. I need someone who thinks they know what they're talking about and you seem just the man 😉

Don't forget BHOK's favourite bike shop owner in Holland. He sounds really pissed off.
The bike shop happened to be the first to highlight the extra VAT regulations. This is something that affects all purchases from abroad under about £130. I love how you desperately try to make it sound like a single, individual story. You are sadly defenceless on that one. That's a step backward for UK people, not a benefit.

Anyway, UK shoppers now have yet another thing to worry about. Here's another slap in the face you voted for...

400% fee increases

EU suppliers like the bike shop have to comply with the new rules like everyone else. If it chooses not to sell bike bits to the UK that's fine. Some UK businesses selling abroad will choose to do the same. When things settle down we'll be left with businesses that follow the rules.

As for the Interchange fee, this is a bank charge to businesses outside the UK making e-commerce sales to Mastercard card holders. It's not payable by UK customers and the amount is within the EU's agreed cap on fees. The increased charge remains below other card providers such as Amex and has no effect on the UK, just on EU businesses. If they don't like it they can ask customers to pay by Visa.

I don't know why you keep searching for brexit problems. There's bound to be some teething issues for UK businesses and for EU businesses, far more serious than those you keep quoting, although it would be a lot smoother if the EU stopped going out of its way to make things difficult for us.

No need to worry BHOK. Jacob Rees Bogg is confident we’ll see the advantage of leaving within 50 years.
The fact he’s already made millions out of Brexit, as well as wads of tax avoidance through SCM, it’s obviously not going to have the slightest negative effect on him, or the rest of the “snouts in the trough” brigade.

I just want to know when all the food stuff/toiletries and house hold stuff in general is going to run out like many said it would?
We’ve been out for nearly a month now so when is it so I can start to stock pile?

Our little englanders don't want real life big stories, they want to luxuriate in the cold comfort of, seemingly, small issues. That way they can still convince themselves that Brexit really is the Holy Grail.

What this bloke is saying is completely made up. It is such a complicated scenario and cannot be reduced to the babble in this post.

Exactly how many goods or how much stock do you import.

I am guessing it is a number approaching zero. I do import. It has become a nightmare.

You need to read the article Giro posted this wasn't about companies importing but two individuals for something tiny like bed sheets and jumpsuits that what TNO was commenting on and as Jaffa posted it's scrapping the barrel for a non story by remainers.
Of course there are going to be problems at the start only an idiot would think there won't but this story a Dutch bike shop and a picture of an empty shelf in NI and the headline saying this could happen while Asda and the like say all is fine are just pathetic.

That’s right. Just dismiss the experiences of someone who is actually involved in the business of importing (Upwards) and describes the new regime as “a nightmare”.

Doesn’t know what he’s talking about does he.

A Brexiter making stuff up?

I struggle to believe that.

I know you have personal experience of the difficulties for importers caused by Johnsons’s red tape but really you must have misunderstood the situation. Why we’ve had Brexiters on here posting tweets with templates of single sheet forms and claiming that’s all that’s needed so they must be right. You can post a link to the government website, which sets out the myriad of forms that need to be considered, but their reply then is that they’re “not interested” or they are just teething problems.

And as we all know - Brexiters are never wrong. 😂

That's it, you copy and paste a link to the government website. We'll carry on doing the work.

Never wrong and never own anything. Just blame remainers. You won. Deal with it.

🙄 Typical crap from an ‘expert’ who knows feck all about the subject he’s talking about.

and please don’t go all flappy on me because they don’t mention cheese 🤡

Tell you what Jack, I'll tell our clients that you'll copy and paste them shall I. That'll solve their problems. 😆
Well you’ve got to admit it’s all a bit confusing Tonto.

Here you are, saying it’s all nonsense and U.K. companies don’t need EU subsidiaries or warehouses on the continent, and yet all these U.K. companies are doing just that? Someone must be telling them to do it.

Or maybe it’s all been caused by articles in the Guardian? Yes - that must be it 👍 All these CEOs reading the paper over their marmalade and toast and suddenly thinking “fcuk me!!! I’d better get a shift on and find warehouse space in the EU pronto!!!”

Pronto Tonto!!! You’ve missed a trick. 👍👍
