Teams who you easily forget were in the Prem

Are Stoke one of those teams? Bar Charlie being a part of them, I don't really have any memories at all of Stoke in the Prem - no big games, memorable goals, outstanding players .. it's all a bit meh!

So any other teams whose time in the Prem just sort of passed you by.

Sadly we can't include Preston on this list 😆

I remember them mostly for Delap and his long throws in their first season or two but after that I agree they became a bit of a nothing team, although I am surprised they've struggled so much since coming down

I'd add Hull to the list

Stoke were good in the Prem under Tony Pulis. They used to have a thing for bullying Arsenal and Arsene Wenger. Basically any soft arses who turned up at the Britannia Stadium knew they were going to get a kicking off a million long throws.

Feared for us when we went there with Richard Kingson in net but thankfully we got through it.

I think it's where the good player but can he do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke saying came from.

Fulham and Norwich should be banned from being promoted as they're a waste of a year every other year. Even their own fans seem to forget they're there.

Norwich must be the only team whose fans are bored with them winning the Championship.…

Seems an age since Wimbledon were a prem side. I can't forget about Barnsley as a good mate of mine is a Yorkshire dingle and constatly reminds me of it. Swindle Town are one I largely forget about as it was a one season wonder when it was in it's infancy

I don't know if I'm remembering this correctly but didn't crouch score that screamer for them (maybe against city)? Either way it was a memorable goal... maybe that backs up the point of Stoke not being memorable if I can't remember if it was for them he scored it! 😆

To be honest, there have been quite a few clubs that have been in the Premiership.
You have to be really really bad not to have been in that division.
However, I suppose there are some supporters of certain clubs that secretly wish they'd played in that division but constantly bang on how it doesn't matter if they get there or not.

In all the chat about Derby’s glorious history, that Premier League campaign in which they got 11 points doesn’t seem to get much of a mention…
…and when we got promoted to the prem I will never forget how some lazy, ignorant, smart-arse hacks in the football press suggested we might get even fewer points - “are Blackpool the worst team ever to be promoted?…” etc. etc.

And then we won 4-0 away on the first day. Soon shut that crap up!

Danny Baker said we wouldn't win a throw-in.

Are we around 49 teams to have been in the Premier League? It's over half of the League.

From memory I think there are maybe 5 of the 24 Championship sides who have never made it?

Rotherham
Bristol City
Millwall
Luton

and some completely forgettable side, who have the longest tenure in this Division. So near yet so far.

Any others?

I was working away somewher or other and remember, on the hotel TV, watching a Monday night Prem match on Sky: a boring game between Barnsley and Coventry City.
There were other more entertaning channels I could have watched but as the bill went straight to head office...

If you had a vote amongst all the fans in the country on the most unlikely team to play in the premiership we’d be in the top 5 if not first, from memory we were the 44th team to play in it

Didn’t Charlie score one for Stoke from his own half?

Bristol City have only been in the top flight seven years for the whole of their existence - three years before World War One and 1976-1980. Bristol Rovers have never been in the top flight.

Remember fuming from about 99-2001 as Bradford City went on from "that night" to be playing the PL, they had Benito Carbone and we had Barry Shuttleworth, so not them.

We are probably one of very few teams to have one season and then go far, far away and not be back for a decade or more, might be us to the wider football world other than the obvious Oldham, Swindon, Barnsley.
