Test And Trace

They seem to be upping their game - just heard of someone being contacted and told to self-isolate within an hour of the positive test being confirmed to the person they were in contact with

I confess to having been very negative on T&T however that's more like it

The test availability has also seemingly improved - same day often available

Just need to get the test results quicker now and we might stand a chance of tackling this effectively

There may be value in a two week lockdown if so

I know of a hubby and wife who were meeting in a local caff for lunch. One signed in using the app, one by paper. The one by paper was told to SI, the app one has heard nothing.

Have you signed up to the NHS app yet?

Still not convinced about the app

This was the T&T they do by telephone - should have said Test and Trace - I have amended

Timing perhaps?

Possibly one arrived earlier and thus fell into a window where SI was required, the other was a bit later so didn't?

Possibly the paper registration didn't have the correct time, was misread or some other technical reason?

Could be the app got it right and the paper route was wrong.

They arrived within 2 mins of each other, first one went to bag a seat rather than wait outside. I don't know if this was paper or the app.

Possibly the time wasn't recorded properly on the paper, perhaps rounded to 12:30 when it was closer to 1:00, perhaps the time was omitted altogether and when contacted by T&T the best he/she could say was "lunchtime".

Just guessing.

So the world leading track & trace system we were promised about 6 months ago is actually individual business users and a sheet of A4??!!

I returned from Turkey and have had to quarantine for 14 days . I don’t regret it as it was a superb holiday and much needed. It hasn’t made a lot of difference as me and my wife both work from home. What does bug me is that we were told that you had complete a passenger locator form 48
Hours before returning which we duly did and would be asked to show this on our phones by Border Control. No we weren’t nor have we been contacted by text , phone or a knock at the door as we were threatened with . How many people didn’t complete this form and have been out and about or gave false phone numbers or addresses? Someone who works at my Head Office has tested positive for Covid but only had self isolate for seven days. Confused?
Edit: just noticed that Grant Schapps is reducing the quarantine period to seven days. Based on Science? I don’t think so just on a whim and manipulating the public now that the holiday season is over

I know a bloke who had symptoms for 11 days, had a test yesterday which came back positive, but only has to isolate for 3 more days as the clock starts when you first have symptoms. Barmy.

If a test (NHS) comes back positive, the email/text will tell you to self isolate for 14 days.....10 days for anyone in your bubble if they don't want to test.
Current testing timescales starts on the day you receive your results.

Your mate sounds like he wants to get out early and doesn't want to self isolate for the full time

I’ve just looked on the NHS website if you test positive without symptoms then you self isolate from the day of the test not the result,10 days. No wonder people are confused.

Isolation should continue until symptoms (apart from cough and sense of taste /smell) have stopped for a few days, even if 10 days have elapsed.

I know someone who had symptoms and requested home kit.Took 4 days to arrive by which time they felt better so didn’t use kit. 2 days later they got notification that they had tested positive ! You couldn’t make it up.
,

But if you have symptoms it’s a longer quarantine. If you arrive from abroad it’s different again but then again it’s changed today and the WHO suggest something else. Really clear not made up on the hoof at all.

I've always understood it's ten days from symptoms ( whenever you test ) or 14 days from a positive test if asymptomatic

Is that not right ?

It’s 10 days and starts from date of test if you have no symptoms or date symptoms started if you do.

If you still have symptoms (temperature, runny nose / sneezing, sickness or diarrhoea after 10 days, you should continue to self-isolate.
