Must say friendlies often ruin the start of a season for me if I go to too many. One season I did something like 7 friendlies and I just remember it killing the opening day. Never been to one since (although might have been tempted by Anfield).

I remember going and watching Blackpool play Lancaster City in a friendly years ago. Half the lads were there but not playing, I had John Murphy and a few other players sat right infront of me eating Pie, Chips, peas and gravy. Anfield would have certainly been a step up from that
