Yorkshire are deducted 48 points from the 2023 County Championship and fined £400,000 - of which £300,000 is suspended for two years - for their handling of the Azeem Rafiq racism scandal.

In reality, they’ve been fined £100k. The points deductions are meaningless to them, as they are hardly competing in already Div 2 and the T20 has finished. The other £300k is suspended.

Agree, they weren't candidates for promotion before the deduction, and I don't believe that punishing the current players is the answer. The correct punishment should have been to punish the "Establishment" - those in charge at YCC. Yes a very large fine, but also some individual punishments for those that could and should have prevented the abuse. A test match ban would have penalised the public, who aren't to blame here.

Points should have been deducted next season NOT this - totally pointless deduction so late in the season
