There was an interesting correlation between the boycott, direct action and the steep decline of the few remaining profitable Oyston businesses. Cash flow fell off a cliff. The estate agency lost out massively and never recovered. Owen could not sustain those kind of losses long term. The Club was also losing money, although they tried to offset that by selling players, or whatever they could. Eventually that would have devalued the assets to virtually nothing and costs would have escalated out of control.
NAPM / the boycott would have forced him out eventually.
In the end, Belokon brought a much quicker end to the battle.
